Morning girls. On the BBC news story of the fight just now, the story coming almost dead last in the sports roundup, the presenter mentioned the weigh in (absolutely no footage) and made reference to the fight being sold out but "only 500 tickets were available to the public".

I'm not fluent in sports ticket selling, can anyone elucidate why only 500 tickets were available? Where did the rest go? And why?

Also, as I said, no footage of the weigh in! Is even that material under lock & key? The weigh in is like a free advert to trigger last minute panic PPV buying, talk about the fight shooting itself in the foot.

I still find it telling how little coverage this fight is receiving, in respect to its supposed enormity. This feels very far from the intense fascination the world had with Lewis & Tyson in Memphis.

Barely any tickets for high demand events go on sale to the public, even in this country. Secondary markets are making a killing at our expense.

Casinos in vegas have got these though and diahing them out to folks who may drop a couple of million at the tables

Do you mean that, essentially, they don't want to waste the tickets on the penniless riffraff, and so casinos bulkbuy and sell to their super rich clientele?

Some of the quotes coming out about the price tickets are changing hands for must be bullshit, right, part of the sales pitch? Unless someone has been gifted billions, is drunk, stupid and days from death they wouldn't give $320,000 to watch a boxing match, surely?

Apparently the ticket agents (touts for want of a better word) are struggling to shift tickets, prices tumbling according to some reports. Dan Rafael predicted this a while back, was the same for Lewis v Tyson.

I don't get why there is such a furore about the tickets.
Did anyone in the UK seriously think that access to a ticket would be a doddle and at a reasonable price ? No.
Get with the programme Tuan.
A big percentage of the tickets went to the fighters.
Use joined up logic to work out how those were distributed.
To quote your eloquent statement how the fornicate do you think penniless riffraff would get to see a fight at Warrington Leisure Centre let alone the MGM.

Wouldn't surprise me. As I said above, the figures flying around seemed ludicrous. People who make a lot of money in their own right aren't in the habit of spunking it away - even the ones that do do so on the tables and expect sports/show tickets as comps. They'll pay a fair price but they aren't stupid (generally).

High rollers and Ultra High Net Worth individuals were getting access to the tickets long ago. Hold a American Express Centurion card and you could have got ringside tickets no problem.

Hard luck for the real fans, but as we all know, the real fans don't count at these events, only those with money do.

Ridiculous I know but if people want to pay it.
Some loonies have just paid $2k each for a bar stool in a local bar so they can get a clear view of the TV screen.

I am fascinated by the journey these many thousands of tickets take - I don't get why there is such a furore about asking a question.

I'm shocked you don't think the fight has had much publicity.

Pretty much. They've spent a fortune to host the fight and are trying to get their maximum return knowing boxing fans will still travel and watch it to be part of the event.

I think the publicity has been slightly different than the usual fights. A lot more understated and the dighters have been fairly quiet (compared to usual) as it's not really needed

That's my impression and I note that of many others. The hype for the 95-97 Tyson fights, Lewis-Tyson and the Hatton-Mayweather/Pac fights found me without me having to go looking for it. Even DLH-Mayweather were splashed all over the news the morning of their fight, DLH flexing and gesticulating etc. Encouraged me to go to the local sports bar and watch it (less than 20 people in the room for that one!)

The hysteria for this fight within the fight community is big, but outside? It feels like a fight between two men the public doesn't really know. None of the buildup seems to have impinged on my world anyhow.

Mike Costello said on the radio yesterday that some of the 'cheaper' seats are starting to be sold for close to face value now.

It can't be good for the sport in a wider sense.

I watched a clip on the BBC yesterday of one of the top end hotel suites in Vegas, it goes for 50k a night. It was stunning Iinside,and massive, but seriously it was just a hotel suite. I magine there's plenty more going at that rate across the city.

It boggles the mind someone would pay tens of thousands for a fight ticket, but if there's plenty takers dropping 50k a night on a hotel room then nothing surprises.

Guy I know is in Vegas and got tickets no problem from the MGM. $800 though and i dont think the seats are great.
