Is Pac - May on a radio broadcast tonight?

Hi - I haven't got Sky and don't trust any streams (though please PM me If you have any That you suggest :D ) so I was wondering if any UK stations were providing radio commentary? (Old school!)

I remember listening to Honeyghan-Vaca and Honeyghan - Yung Kil Chung on the radio years ago and it was pretty exciting nonetheless.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure it's on Radio 5Live, it's not listed on there schedule and as of Wednesday they still hadn't negotiated the rights to broadcast it.

Please can I have a PM?

Do enjoy the radio though. Surprising how few places in London have it on. 5-6 am is brutal

I listened to Akinwande v Welch on the radio.

I almost Van Gogh'd myself by halfway.

It's exclusively on radio 5 live at 4.30
Not extra, on the main station
It's nearly as good as watching it and free
Mike Costello is awesome

I've listened to bouts on the radio and it is a pleasure, very exciting and the imagination is involved far more than with TV.

It's weird - they only announced it like 10 minutes ago - surely they haven't been in negotiations right up to now?

Not sure but they said 'exclusively'
This means it's not on Talk Sport

Back in the 1950s when I was a boy, my Dad and I listened to a lot of fights on the radio. Radio Times printed big pictures of the two fighters side by side, so we knew what they looked like. The commentary was always superb and I can clearly remember my Dads face during the fight and his clenched fists when the fight got going Lol. Probably sounds a bit boring to modern fight fans with HD TVs, but it was all we had back in those days.
One night my Dad announced he was taking me to a live fight at the Seymour Hall in London and I was very excited. We didn't have seats, so we had to stand, and I couldn't see a thing being a young lad with so many grown men in front of me.
Then a man came and told us kids to follow him. He sat us down on some steps near to the front of the ring and we had a wonderful view of the fight. Amazing night, I will never forget it, or the kind man that helped us kids out. I believe Howard Winston was fighting that night.http://boxrec.com/forum/posting.php?mod ... 9&t=191203#

I don't have tv or internet at home so listen to West Ham games via the Talksport app.

Which is probably better for me.

Nice post and insight. I've loved listening to fights on the radio but I only go back to mid-eighties Hagler-Hearns, Witherspoon-Bruno, Curry-Honeyghan etc. My dad used to tell me how my gran, who was the archetypal little old lady, used to listen to boxing on the radio when he was growing up and can recall her listening to Marciano fights. Boxing works well on the radio - better than many other sports.
