I knew Floyd was gonna win but my god he really just fuucked up the so called super fight.

Floyd was at his all time pussiness(i know not a word take it easy).

And Manny took no chances whatsoever.

A huge black eye for the sport tonight.

Huge letdown. Looked like 2 fighters in there who were simply counting their money and not willing to risk anything. Fight of the century my ass.

Floyd outboxed Manny when he was boxing.

If you get points for boxing, you should lose points for stalling.

If it were up to me, I'd call it a draw and makes those twerps duke it out in the parking lot.

Floyd Mayweather is a boxer. Did you not know this or were you genuinely expecting a Gatti-Ward type fight?

FFS!
Where's my knock down drag out rocky style Floyd Mayweather fight damnit!!!!!!

I've been waiting 19 years, I keep expecting it and I'm losing patience!

That was a letdown, but they did have some great moments.

Not everyone likes a flighty style, but it's on you to cut the ring off Manny wasn't smart enough to figure out how.

Did you know that the main ethos of the sport of boxing is "hit and not get hit"?

If not, there are some good boxing websites I can recommend!

It's good to have a new follower of the sport of boxing, so newbies like you are always welcome here, but I'd advise you to refain from using silly words like "disgusting", until you've learned the basics. :TU:
You do know this is prize fighting right?

Don't give me that same BS line hit n not get hit.

This is also entertainment pal.

Fuuuuucking disgrace of so called professional boxing.

Well said.

A joke of a fight.

I didn't buy it and I am happy about that, but the problem tonight wasn't the main event. The problem was the utterly disgusting undercard.

Manny actually fought a smarter fight than I expected, which gave him no chance to win. Manny boxing at his very best has no chance to beat FMJ in a boxing match. Pac had to hurt FMJ. His only legit hope of that was to attack recklessly which would have most likely ended in Pac being stopped.

It was not a great fight but it was a beautiful boxing exhibition by FMJ. Pac is simply not on FMJ's level.

The undercard was a disgrace.

The other thing that was disgusting was the tapping gloves every round and dry humping at the beginning of the 12th.

I expect more out of a so called Fight of the Century than what we got tonight. Both fighters were responsible for it being a boring fight, because they refused to let their hands go. I didn't expect a brawl, but I expected a whole lot more punches thrown.

If you were happy with it then all the power to you but just like last weeks fight I was disappointed tonight.

Compubox is trash.

Mayweather's rotator cuffs are as worn as Bruce Jenner's face.

Pacquiao threw 193 jabs but only landed 18, which is an astonishingly low 9% connection rate.

Hit and not get hit folks!
Math always convinces people, especially in boxing.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I thought Floyd won. But I'm always annoyed by numbers in boxing. I watched the fight. What some guy pushing a button saw makes no difference to me.

FFS!
Other huge fights in history have fighters willing to engage. This was quite a let down.

It was poor. From the Hart fight to the final cards being announced. The one highlight was Lomachenko putting on a genuine masterclass of boxing. Manny is to blame, as is Haymon, Leo, Arum, Roach, Floyd and who ever thought of selling so few tickets to fans. The first 2 bouts televised on sky were fought in an almost empty arena ffs.

Roll on May 6th!

The fight went as I expected with Floyd winning a boring fight. I was afraid that the endless media hype would cause the casual fan who shelled out $100 to say WTF, I want my money back. The fight never should have cost so much and people were stupid to pay it. The fight was 5 years too late and people bought into the hype. what a shame. Lomo look as good as expected. He's the next P4P great. They just need somebody to give him some work.

If you're a boxer like Floyd, why stand toe-to-toe and trade?

We all knew that there was a distinct possibility that Floyd would try to outbox Manny, so why does it shock you?

If you're Floyd, do you trade and risk the loss to put a smile on your pretty face or do you do your job and make the most of your skills and ability, by choosing the safest and easiest route to domination?

Floyd wasn't put on this planet to please you!
Doesn't shock me one bit. I knew what to expect for the most part. I thought it might be a little more competitive in the early going, but it was pretty much how I thought it would be. But no one is going to name this bout one of the best super fights ever. Would you?

No but he did put himself in the entertainment business.

He turned pro to make money and entertain so far he's only made loads of money atleast he's succeeded in that.

But the guy is the most fuucking boring great fighter ive ever seen.

Who the fuuck will care about his next dud now that the manny fight is over.

Suspense is gone.

All i know is Floyd threw more landed more...landed at higher percentage. He landed more jabs...he landed more power shots....and they fought at his pace.

This tells me he out boxed him.....out fought him and controlled the whole fight with ring generalship.

These 2 r too high level to fight like ruslan...or ward or gatti or mattyse. Hit and dont get hit.

fergusg wrote:It wasn't a "great" fight, but it was intriguing and I was anticipating Manny to change his tactics, but he kept making the same mistakes time-and-time again, which made the contest too one-sided.

After all, Manny threw less punches than Floyd, with a much lower connect rate (i.e. 19% vs 34%) and landed with a paltry 81 shots, which is only 6.75 punches per round.

One of the Pactards gave Manny the first round, when he only landed three punches. FFS! That's moronic bias for you!

It seems that Manny disapointed, because he didn't let his hands go... and Floyd wasn't obliged to change his winning gameplan.

If you believe the fight was boring, it was due to Manny's gameplan and poor workrate.
Floyd doesn't have to go toe-to-toe, but to be blunt, he is quite fortunate to have not dropped a few fights when he fights like this. Floyd does just enough to eek out rounds because he is so safety-first and luckily for him, it hasn't come back to haunt him in his career. He can throw and land at least a few more solid shots per round without going for broke to at least make the rounds definitive, but Floyd's not willing to take that chance. And as you say, Pacquiao was disappointing as well(hence why Floyd waited to fight this faded version), trying to box with Floyd, failing to cut the ring off well, and not letting his hands go nearly enough. The fight had the feel of a sparring session, akin to DLH vs Floyd, and was a terrible card all-around.

even if im wrong on total punches thrown which i dont think i am. Floyd landed more and landed the better shots all night.....and controlled the whole fight.
