Thoughts on Loma and Leo

I thought Loma was impressive despite starting slow in what appeared to be a successful attempt at feeling out Rodriguez. He throughly outclassed him over most of the bout and outlanded him by huge margins in multiple rounds, and while Rodriguez isn't world class I think beating him that throughly is reflective of ample ability. Loma put his punches together well, showed good offensive variety, above-average speed, and displayed the excellent movement and pivots that bamboozled Russell. He also punched more in clinches than normal and didn't let himself get roughed up as he was against Salido; as he suggested tonight, he learned from that fight. The main thing I'd like to see him do is put more on his shots, but generally I think he's looked good (not top 5 P4P good yet as RJ suggested though) and is capable of improvement.

The LSC fight was tedious and at various points I was hoping that it would be over as soon as possible. LSC wasn't impressive and was getting hit a fair bit considering his opponent's level, while I also wonder if his power will be significantly less effective at 126. It's been several mediocre opponents in a row so hopefully Mares or a comparably good opponent is next and we can see whether LSC gets back on form. I'm also more confident now that at 122 Frampton beats him, though admittedly Leo would probably be significantly more motivated for that fight. Credit to his opponent, who showed impressive durability and heart; as the commentary suggested, he seems like a good test for prospects.
