Ring entrances

Another thread got me thinking...apologies if this has been done before.
What are your favourite ring entrances.
I loved Oliver McCall's (can't remember if it was a regular thing) who, along with his whole entourage, sprinted to the ring. It was funny as fornicate.
And the Big Ben chimes used to get me going before Nige's fights.

Personally ive always found all these ring entrances a lot of bollocks. i mean who honestly gives a fornicate about flying carpets, harley davisons or blue moon being played? its not entertainment, its tedium
if punters need this kind of things to get them excited prior to a fight then maybe they should be watching another sport. if the prospect of watching your favourite fighter, or the anticipation of two good/great fighters meeting in the ring isnt enough for you and you need a ring walk to "get you going" then theres something wrong.
just do what Tyson used to do. get to the ring, no fuckin about and get the job done.

Naz's "sugar daddy" music entrance when fighting Tom "Boom Boom" Johnson was funny as hell.
He just did a stupid, hands in the air dance nearly all the way to the ring. It was ridiculous (even for Naz) but quite cool.
One of the worst I've seen = Floyd Mayweather Jnr's vs Diego Corrales.
He had some whiny little prick doing a rap (about "Pretty Boy Floyd", and how crap Corrales was etc) all the way in, walking in front of Mayweather. Very gay.

Vilches had quite a good one I thought, that little jig he did was quite entertaining.

I think Hatton's entrance to Blue Moon is one of the best I've seen in years - the yanks love it that's for sure.
Just needs a new pair of shorts: they look like they weigh around 2 stone.
Yes Benn coming into the Big Ben chimes was brilliant ( followed by Hell's Bells I think? )
Larry Holmes: Aint no stopping me now
Salvador Sanchez coming into the ring with his mariachi band playing alongside him. The night he met Wilfredo Gomez was one of a kind: Gomez had his own Puerto Rican salsa band on hand, and the two bands tried to outplay each other in the ring. The crowd went wild.
Can't recall what music Barry McGuigen came into ( was it the rocky theme? ) but his Dad singing Danny Boy in the ring was great.

You are one hell of a purist! :P You are right though - a lot of it is total bollocks, which is why it's funny.
Naz's became tedious certainly. They just fornicating took too long. Five minutes max. I'm sure one of his took about 20.
I will have to get that Sanchez-Gomez tape MW!

I agree all the spotlights, flaming curtains and flag carriers are just ridiculous - Eubanks to blame isn't he?
Remember Calzaghe actualy "danced" his way into the ring once?! Thankfully I haven't seen him do it since!

its nothing to do with being a purist mate. if i pay to watch boxing then thats what i want to see. if i want to see some fanny dancing around to some pish tune, then ill pay to get into a nightclub.

Mike Tyson's favourite ring entrance - Wrank Farren's.

I think as long as it's not overly long, and doesn't distract the fighter from the actual fight ahead, there's nothing wrong with it. I've just thought of a great piece of music which I have never heard used before.
Dean, how about the title music from 2001 a space oddessey, it's called 'Thus spake zarathustra' the one with the boomy drums and the trumpets. Gotta be a winner for a fight entrance.

Hmmm... 2001 Space Oddessey is quite possibly the most boring film of all time. Kubrick was seriously over-rated as a director.

I'm sure that's been used, although I'll admit I can't think where and who by. In a boxing entrance, I mean. I know it's been used in wrestling entrances. Great track though.

Yes it has, pretty sure I've seen it used on one or two German shows.

Not sure if it was a classic entrance, but Lennox using Marley's "Chase D'em Crazy Baldheads" for the Tyson fight was the perfect choice of music

Yeah, made me chuckle when I heard that track, big Len obviously put some thought into his choice of track.

Calzaghe looked ridiculous when he did that. It was like Mike Tyson dancing on his way to the ring, if you get my meaning. Just didn't suit. I've said this so many times before, but I lament the passing of old-fashioned ring entrances.
A fighter used to be on his way to the ring already, amid the crowd, when the spotlight would suddenly pick him out. Spinetingling.

Who is the fighter who always races into the ring, is it Hopkins, there's someone fighting now who always makes a very rapid entrance to the ring.

Now that's an intimidating entrance, it's like he's raring to get in there and kick arse.

Chris Eubank's were the best. One of the funniest ones I have seen was Carl Thompson's in the rematch with Chris. He tried to upstage "The Master" by doing this dance.... oh dear.
I didn't like Eubanks when he went over the top (i.e. the bike etc) but the crowd reaction when his intro kicked in (not part of the Tina's song) was awesome.
Glenn Cateley used to come in to his own song (with him singing) that was pretty cool, although if I remember rightly the song wasn't much cop - got a decent voice mind.
