Am I the only one who enjoyed the fight?

Having been listening to my mates and other negative comments on social media, I was wondering did anybody enjoy the fight? I know it was billed as the 'fight of the century' and I think a lot of people got taken in by all the hype, and some of my mates who are only casual fans thought it was going to be a slugfest.
I myself enjoyed it, although not the fight of the century it was as we know the 'richest fight ever' I agree with lots of people saying it should of happened 4 or 5 years ago, but it didnt, a lot of people are moaning also because they wanted Manny to win, and are calling Floyd a runner, have they never watch him before?
Floyd is the best at what he does, not always the most exciting but the best of his generation, and I dont think he will be properly appreciated till he has retired.
I thought Floyd boxed as I and many others thought he would and stuck to a gameplan, he won clearly for me, manny was just not busy enough, and Floyd landed the cleaner shots and boxed smart.
Yes it was not a 'Classic' but to me I was glad to see 2 of the best boxers of this era fight each other, evan if it should of happened sooner. :TU:

It was pretty much what I expected it to be so I can't say I was disappointed, I would have liked a closer fight and Manny to have more success but he didn't, oh well. I can understand why a fight that's the richest fight in history might disappoint some people but if you go buying something simply of the hype designed to sell it to you then It's partly your own fault.

Exactly my thoughts. I've literally only just got around to watching it, and thought it was going to be a real struggle to stick with it the way people have been going on. Maybe it helped that because of this my expectations had been dampened but I actually thought it was a decent watch, it panned out exactly how I expected really (although possibly I expected a more desperate Manny in the last couple of rounds).

I saw it with the Sky commentary and Froch's summing up at the end were pretty similar to mine. I just can't help but be impressed when I watch Floyd - and I'm normally someone who wants to see a toe to toe brawl.

It was a good performance by Mayweather. I was a little disappointed in Pacquiao and I think he looked a bit shot to be honest. The fight was five years in the making and it was always going to end up a bit anti climatic. I'm glad it's by with now.

It wasn't brilliant and got a bit boring as it went on but watching those two live on tv keeps you glued just in case it changes in a split second. Floyd looked comfortable and when well ahead it was up to Manny to take the risks. I was more dissapointed in Manny than the fight itself, I thought Hatton put up a better effort, at least he went for it towards the end even if it did result in him getting ko'd.

Overrall I enjoyed it, glad I watched it because of the two boxers on show and the size of the event and wasn't overly dissapointed because the way the fight went wasn't a surprise

I wasn't disappointed in the fight.

I thought beforehand that it wasn't real superfight & that the hype was way OTT & that Mayweather would probably put on a masterclass.

The only reservation I had initially was whether Mayweather, who is well into his 39th year might have slowed down & whilst he isn't what he was, I was hard pressed to tell as against the poor Pacquiao, he looked sensational.

I thought it was a good fight ,same as the posts above it played out the way i thought it would of. To be honest alot of the people who said it was boring seem to be Pacquiao fans and seem to feel short changed that he couldnt get to floyd, and blame floyd for boxing and not fighting

I had already posted the sane comment. I really enjoyed this.
I do not understand all of the whining.

I enjoyed it...the only thing I didn't enjoy was all the negativity afterwards.

I think the trouble with these 'superfight' type matches there is too much expectation of the 2 inside the ring. Sure they are knocking everyone else out at will but it becomes a chess match, neither wanting to be knocked out so they just fart about for a long fight. Generally it ends up on points with a few disapointed people. When you pay $30,000 for a ringside seat you expect a bit of blood. But you are paying for reputations and not whats going in in the centre of the ring. I still havent watched it yet but its not likely I will as im not going to sit through 12 rounds of boredom especially when i know the outcome.

I enjoyed it too and was not disappointed as there was no let down. IMO it was the most predictable big fight I have ever known and was IMO always a comfortable win for Floyd who was never going to brawl and was going to fight pretty much as he did. My only minor surprise was that he stayed flat footed and leaning on the front foot as much as he did which then makes me amazed how people talk of him running as I saw it different.

Those that are disappointed are not the ones that thought Floyd would win and so they envisaged a different fight. Anyone tipping Mayweather with belief must have envisaged what actually happened.

I enjoyed it, I was pulling for Manny but can appreciate the skill and nerve of Mayweather, he can really handle the occasion and has some brilliant moves; he hit Manny hard as well - he didn't just run.

Glad others enjoyed it too, like most of us knew it was never going to be a Hagler-Hearns type of fight, The worst comment I have heard was a someone at work who said it was so bad he turned it off after the first round! What a load of bullshit, he hadn't even seen it

The only people who watched it and are disappointed are people who are not 'full time' boxing fans. Nothing wrong with that but everyone who knows boxing knew there wasn't going to be a blood and guys battle.
I thought it was entertaining, though like many I expected Pac to be more active.
I was surprised how ungracious Manny was after the fight.

It was a great technical bout, no doubt about it. Massively intriguing.

Remember the old quote, "hardly anyone would pay good money to watch Van Gogh paint sunflowers, but considerably more people would pay to watch him cut off his ear"!

I thought it was a decent, intriguing fight, but nothing more than that unfortunately. Exactly what most of us were expecting, although Pacquaio was very disappointing in his basic tactics.

The undercard, on the other hand, was a pile of sh!t.

There's nothing much I can add that hasn't already been posted, thought it was a great fight,a lot better than I expected,I did expect a snoozer and a Mayweather win but in was surprised how busy Floyd was,he did take the fight to Pacquiao at some points

I was disappointed in Manny though I thought he would've made more of an impression and make Mayweather work harder but Floyd dictated everything, people who moan about him being boring pee me off especially the casuals who were expecting a slugfest, I'm glad they were left feeling shortchanged, anyone who knows anything about him know that's not his style

I love nothing more than a toe 2 toe war but I also love watching a master putting on a clinic, there's plenty of warriors out there in this sport but only a few who can show skills similar to Mayweather's

It panned out as i expected in terms of it being a Mayweather UD. But the fight was poor. Pacqiuao's display was dreadful. He's had 5 years to think abot this and really didn't offer anything, not even really much effort. I thin k its legitimate to also be disappointed with Mayweather. He was so comfortable it was ridiculous and I think he could easily have stepped it up and put some hurt on Manny the way he did with Canelo.

I do wonder where this leaves Mayweather as an attraction. The narrative was all leading to the Pacman fight, the only guy that had a chance? What the narrative now?

mayweather made pacquiao look poor, that's the mark of a genius.

I think Roach may have got his tactics wrong. Pressure fighters have failed in the past against mayweather but so have every other style of fighter. I'm not saying manny would have won if he threw more, but there are pressure fighters and there's manny pacquiao. Lots of ifs buts and maybes, but I'd definitely pay to see it again. Put it on in Manila, now that would be amaze balls. Floyd would also get a ton more credit for taking such a fight in Manila. :OhYes:

The whole shoulder incident is unfortunate, if true (big if), then even more reason to do it again. Still love both these guys, and Manny deserved this payday after the wars and fights he's been in. The guy is a legend and it's a privilege to be watching Manny in our era.

To sum up "it was one for the purests". It was technically superb.
