Kirkland vs Alvarez

Who ya got?

This could potentially set a record for ring-weight in a light middle contest given what these guys balloon up to, expect both to be over 171.

I like Kirkland in a bombs-away, 2 rounder. If Alvarez boxes, slips and moves while still landing hurtful shots i think by round 5 Kirkland will be cooked.

Either way, <6 rounds imo. Looking forward to this one, hoping for some proper rock'em sock'em robots after MAtthysse-Provo didn't quite live up to the hype. :box:

Kirkland has been inactive for about a year and a half.
I just don't know what to expect from him. I hope it's a decent scrap.

Like Kirkland...when he is being trained by Anne Wolfe.

Canelo by stoppage in under 7.

I'm really disappointed that Kirkland is not with Wolfe for this one. Alvarez will most likely win because of this. However, had Kirkland been with Wolfe for this one, I'd take him by a mauling.

Kirkland often looks uncomfortable even when he's winning easily, I think Alvarez will draw his sting and body punch the fight out of him - it may take 6 or 7 rounds though.

I think this will be an entertaining fight.

I see Kirkland having his moments maybe even dropping Canelo but eventually Canelo wilk figure him out stopping Kirkland late in the fight.

Canelo ref stoppage in 10

Canelo is going to be showcasing on Kirkland until he folds up.
Without that Wolfe-style conditioning, Kirkland is near pedestrian.
Easy work for the Ginger.

Can't wait for this fight and although it can be explosive, I think it will be a little measured from both guys,I think Kirkland will have success in spurts but I expect Alvarez to give a good display of boxing/punching for the most part and will probably get the nod in the closer rounds

Canelo UD

Alavarez destorys Kirkland no matter who's in his corner. Kirkland is a showcase fight for Alvarez. I got Alvarez by KO in the 7th but wouldn't be surprised if he has him out of there earlier than that, but this fight doesn't go past the 7th round.

Canelo is overrated. He arguably lost to Trout and Lara. His best wins are against shot Mosley and Angulo. Kirkland can pose a problem for him.

Oscar is the happiest guy in the room after Provodnikov/Matthysee and Floyd/Manny both fell WAY below expectations. What was supposed to be an amazing month of boxing turned into crap.

Oscar would of sold his left nut and best pair of fishnet stocking to have been a part of the promotion of Pacquiao-Mayweather.
He can talk all about wanting an exciting fight. He would of taken the money from this fight and told the fans how great it was.

Oscar was pretty happy after the lucas/provo fight cuz his guy won rather easly.

Why wouldn't he be happy.

Alvarez seems to have more dimension to his game than Kirkland and that should be the difference. Alvarez can win by patiently breaking down Kirkland who clearly can be hit and hurt and who has been by fighters who are not as fast and accurate with their punches as is Alvarez. Kirkland certainly can win in a shootout, but Alvarez would need to cooperate some for that to happen, he won't. Alvarez won't have to take too many risks because he will have offensive success all night. Alvarez by KO in the later rounds.

PBC Series, Lawsuit he has against Hayman, awful Provod/Matthysee fight and pretty soon his buddy Schaefer's non compete will run out and he'll begin plucking away at his stable of fighters. He's got a lot to be worried about these days actually. Golden Boy Productions is not in a very strong position and already looking a little desperate.

This could be one of those fights where most everyone expects a big slugfest. And It goes the full 12. I'd favor Canelo. Kirkland has not been active enough.

Are you kidding?

How was Lucas/provo awful? Let me guess you werr rooting for Ruslan huh.

The fight may not have been the balls to wall war we expected but it was still a real good fight, one of the better fights of the year so far.

Oscar was real happy after that fight you shudda seen him at the post fight presser he was all smiles.

And after Canelo smashes Kirkland Oscar will have even more to smile about, he has the next big draw in boxing and after last weeks shiity ass fight Oscar was just laughing his ass of at the joke of a fight it turned into.

Now the Floyd/pac fight now that crap was horrendous.

As you said, it will depend on which version of Kirkland we get on the night.

Never been a Kirkland fan and I hope Alvarez schools him.

Canelo is a different class to Kirkland. He will tee off on Kirkland all night long until he bludgeons him to a standstill around 7-9.

Floyd/Manny both fell WAY below expectations.

As far as expectations go, if we're talking about the fight itself, no one with any sense would expect Floyd to fight differently than he always does, so one would have to say Manny was the only fighter that didn't live up to the world's expectations(Due to the combo of his injury and facing the best boxer in the world, who refused to fight on Manny's terms- as he should have), while Floyd simply did what Floyd does.
And if we're talking about the expected success financially? That didn't fall below expectations at all, in fact, it sh*t all over the initial projections and is supposedly well past 4M purchases already with some more tallies still coming in.

As much as it pains me to acknowledge- If they do rematch, I'd bet it comes close to the same numbers as this time around.
That injury, for however much trouble its going to cause Pac legally, will be the reason the masses will eat it up all over again, hook line and sinker, as soon as those "inside Mayweather V Pac 2" and 24/7s and such start running and when Manny and Freddie say healthy Pac's coming to kill Floyd next time around. Despite all the b*tching and complaining about how boring that fight was, the love for and utter belief in Manny coupled with the hate that many have for Floyd and stronger than ever desire to see him KOd, will bring every one of those purchasers back for what will no doubt turn out to be rounds 13-24 of the same fight, basically.

And then hilarity ensues when they sign for the 3rd fight and all of those same frustrated purchasers spend a 100 bucks for the 3rd time.
Boxing fans are funny like that.
If Mike Tyson got into somewhat relative shape and went on a promotional tour, touting his hunger and desire to be champ again, and challenged Wlad- A very LARGE number of people would believe Mike and would get very excited to see him beat the "boring" Wlad and would gladly purchase the PPV in droves. People really love their favorite fighters, man-
We want badly to believe that they're going to win, so we generally wind up in that place.
Mike once said he could sell out MSG masturbating, and that's not far off, because boxing fans are for real fanatics.

A lot of people picked Arturo to beat Floyd, as just the first example of universal love for a fighter clouding all judgment because from the moment of the fight announcement on, he had less than a snowball's chance in hell to win.

I'll tell you what, if Kirkland put the work in the gym for this one and has his head screwed on straight then all of my money would be with him in this fight. The chances are slim that Kirkland put his work in though. He's clearly a troubled kid with a lifetime of troubles but living the protected life I have, who am I to judge a guy that rose to this success from such a disadvantaged life?

The truth is, Kirkland's has had 1 bad fight. Ishida caught him cold early and that was that. But the body of work is impressive and scary. Kirkland can clearly be knocked down but he'll be back and he'll get stronger and won't stop throwing. He's a bad dream for anyone.

Canelo has a lot of guts for taking the fights he's taken recently and I can't help loving this kid for it even though, i really don't think Canelo is that great of a fighter right now. This fight is going to be fought in a phone booth and the winner is going to have to dig deeper than he's ever dug. If Canelo wins this fight without any controversial cards or crazy situations happening, I would have to give him all the credit in the world. He's got balls, this kid.

My Prediction: Canelo's corner calls off the fight because he's taken too much damage. I do think that we see Canelo on the canvas for the first time in his career. Kirkland by TKO in round 10

If that happens. We will see Oscar back in stocking snorting his life away.
Canelo is the only big star he has left and this would crush him
