I was just watching Boxing Matters with Colin Hart as a guest and was exasperated as I listened. His top ten welterweights had Pernell Whittaker listed but no Pacquiao which is not something I am going to argue about but what I made me tut loudly was his reasoning. He said he would not list Pac at welter as he was better as a super bantam and feather which if that is his opinion is fair enough but surely that would then disqualify Pernell as he was a better Lightweight than Welter. They both have great resumes at Welter for stand alone judgement at that weight with Pernell getting some big wins, ditto Pac. If you have reasoning for something like this it must be consistent

Then I got more fecked off with the old sod when he spoke about the career of Trinidad, saying he had beaten Oscar but lost to Chavez. Uhm, perhaps I slept for a year but I do not recall that ever happening!

Colin Hart is terrible. I sometimes wonder if he even likes boxing. He'll somehow always manage to relate a fight to Ali and Frazier.

It was and still affects me to this day,i can't bring myself to watch any nature programmes in case i see a walrus on a beach

Yes thank god he was, budgie smugglers though and he was sort of an orange colour covered in sun tan oil,very traumatic indeed

Definitely, and he doesn't even seem to even want to know/talk about modern boxing.

Its like hes in the 'it was better in my day' brigade and all he wants to do is remind people of that. Now that's great if your watching/reading some sort of historical stuff (I admit hes great for that) but for current boxing hes not got a clue (and doesn't want to).

I agree,he didn't like Lennox Lewis and reckoned he wasn't a puncher ,things were probably better in his day,i.e one champion etc,but as he makes a living out of boxing he surely has to except it how it is now and make the most of it.

The silver barnet that sticks out at the sides and the thick black eyebrows always reminds me of one of the rarer muppet characters.

Hart seems like a good guy. He's always got his WBCs and WBAs mixed up but so what?

And Pac is nowhere near an all-time welter. Not even close.

I was not arguing if he was or was not worthy of being an all time welter and even said that, I was purely talking about what he said was his reason for not rating him which was inconsistent. If he said, "I have not ranked him as he was simply not top ten" then fair enough but didnt

It was the top 10 WWs since the war. Amazingly one of them didn't include Tommy Hearns in the top 10 and the other had him at 7, he's clearly top 5 all time maybe even 3 behind the two sugar rays

Really? Apart from Cuevas, who did he beat at welterweight? Hearns better at light-middle.
Robinson has to be top welter, then Leonard, but you have Mayweather, Oscar, Griffith, Cokes, Armstrong, Napoles, even Ted 'Kid' Lewis and Jack Britton.

Who do you think could beat Hearns at WW other than the two Rays, Emile Griffiths maybe Gavilan?
