Who do you think would be an appropriate opponent for Canelo ?

Cotto and GGG have been doing the rounds.
What say you ?

Cotto next, then GGG sometime next year depending on Mayweather. After Cotto he should get an easy defense or two before GGG.

I'd say that consensus at this point.

I don't care what anyone says but I'd love to see Canelo vs Pacquiao.

Do think he can get to 175 to face Hopkins, besides he calls himself the alien these days.

Rematch Kirkland in Vegas and have in the contract that Jim Lampley has to keep saying (in a crackly voice) "WE'VE GOT A FIGHT IN VEGAS"

Cotto in the fall then GGG but i have a hunch that the GGG fight will be left to be build up for a couple of yrs as the next potential super fight.

Cotto won't be ready for fall after fighting mid June.

Clottey in the fall. Then Cotto early next year.

Then he gets slaughtered by GGG.

Then GGG gets derailed by Ward.

Forget Golovkin, lets see Ward vs Kovalev, if Ward is that great.

Ward ain't beating kovalev while I got a hole in my arse.

btw whats next for Kirkland? He still can give som good fights (there are Bundrage, who has a title, Carlos Molina rematch, Michel Soro, who actually beat Glen Tapia, maybe Joshua Clottey would be a good fight if he dont fight Canelo). What do you think boys? :box:

In order to unify, you have to have a belt first, correct?

Why not go after Andrade next? For some reason I don't think they will do that. Bad style match-up maybe?

My guess is if he doesn't get the Cotto fight next, he will fight Bundrage (should be old enough now) or another aging guy like Clottey. I think he will stay away from the prime guys like Charlos and Andrade. (Even though they are probably not in their prime yet)

Andrade brings a belt, size, reach, and very good skills. He doesn't run like Lara was criticized for either. It would be a great fight, and as far as I see a pick em fight at this point, especially since Andrade has been off almost a year.

It is similar in some ways, both being good boxers and southpaws. Lara uses a lot more movement from what I have seen, and Andrade stays in the pocket more, and has very good power. Canelo couldn't really catch up to Lara, but he would be allowed more opportunities with Andrade. The problem with Andrade is that he is taller (6'1") and maybe has more reach than Lara.

According to the late Emanuel Steward, Andrade has better over-all skills than Lara, which is a strong statement and quite a compliment. Andrade was knocked down by Vanes M. though, so maybe he is vulnerable....time will tell. It is a great match-up I think. Canelo will fight anyone, but will his team keep him away from Andrade? We will find out in a few months.

No Manny for the rest of 2015. Cotto/Alvarez has the 4Q PPV slot locked.

I'm thinking late October/early November.

Canelo doesn't care about belts which is why he fights at 155.

His not caring about them is a convenient excuse to create his own weightclass imo.

Lets wait to see if that is the case the rest of his career. I doubt it.

DLH either just doesn't want to risk his best asset or sincerely thinks that in couple years Canelo vs GGG could produce the same numbers as May vs Pac:

So you reckon that Haymon is going to allow his charge, Jermell Charlo, to face Canelo, which would help fund GBP's $300m lawsuit against himself?

Anyone with a fully-functional brain would consider the prospects of this bout as highly unrealistic.

I believe that Andrade is also looking to join Haymon's stable, so it's a double-whammy.

Haymon isn't doing business with HBO or GBP anytime soon.

The rumour mill speculates that HBO only rubber-stamped Cotto's Aussie opponent as long as he faces Canelo next.

Therefore, I expect Canelo to have an interim bout against a very low-risk and beatable opponent, such as Cornelius Bundrage, before his eagerly anticipated fight with Cotto in the Autumn.

i am talking boxing, i am not talking politics. i dont care who is with who. i say which match up would be good and right now charlo and andrade are good upn comers to need to showcase their skills against the top, like canelo or lara, that simple.
