Brutal 3 rds of fighting Kirkland has huge heart i honestly thought he was working his way back into the fight. But man Canelo Despite laying on the ropes a lil to much stayed aware and executed the ending beautifully.

Imagine the amount of new fans it would have won over if this fight had been the main event last week instead of that piling dump of a fight we got.

People can say what they want about James Kirkland but man he always brings it. What an exciting fight. Wished there were 1 or 2 more fights on that card so I could watch more boxing but all in all I'm happy. It also helps that i picked ALVAREZ,KO,3,X2 on PTBF
I can always appreciate a pure boxing match with guys like Mayweather or Rigondeaux but man these toe to toe battles like we just seen is great for the sport. It's too bad this fight wasn't on the undercard for Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Great predictable win by Canelo.. I figured Kirkland would stick around a bit longer. Floyd beats them both easily lol.

Yeah but at what expense? Dancing round the ring and refusing to engage for twelve rounds?
Yes, technically, excellent.
BUT - BORING!!!! No-one wants to watch that shit.

that exactly what i thought. all the stupid people always talking about who wins and who not and all what matters is a win. than i ask me the question, from what do you as a fan get your kicks from, from a win, or a great action packed fight.

The Mexican didn't have the skills to "make" the fight, because he couldn't connect with his blows. Floyd essentially "broke" the fight using his superior skill, which is precisely what he also did against Pacquiao.
You see, it took a defensively irresponsible and a strategically inept opponent like Kirkland to "make" last nights' fight against Canelo, which would have surely satisfied the masses.
However, it does disappoint me that so many self-proclaimed "hard-core" fans detest exponents of the so-called "sweet science", as they're typically labelled as "cowards".
It seems to me that brawlers excite the fans, but boxers bore them, which is a shame because I feel that both aspects of the sport should be appreciated.
All of these Floyd Fans claiming this "sweet science" defense were the same people littering these message boards with insults at Erislandy Lara for his performance against Canelo. Why do you think Rigondeaux can't be seen on TV anywhere when he fights? Floyds the Captain of the Boring Boat and he's got Lara and Rigondeaux aboard helping him row. They can get all of the wins they want but they will never win in the fans eyes and in the historical court of greatness, they will be found guilty of not pleasing fans.

Now you're just acting silly. In the history books, Floyd will go down as the best boxer of his era, one of the greatest defensive fighters in boxing history and thes martest business man in boxing history. As much as it might erk you, history will turn out to be very kind to Floyd in about 10 years time when he's completely ooff the scene as a fighter. You'll always have your tough man lovers that will never be happy with Floyds entire body of work, Floyd is already very highly regarded in the real boxing world among the real experts. I don't think your opinion is going to mean much in 10 years.

The Floyd Clan?

I guess I would rather be considered that than someone that straddles the fence to play it safe. Maybe for Floyd's last opponent, he can pick someone that has been inactive like Kirkland for almost two years and has to shed nearly 50lbs. Maybe then he can get a KO to please the non-Floyd Clan?

If you asked me now, forget ten years from now, who I think is the most skilled boxer of all time. I'll freely admit and will until I see anyone better, Floyd is THE BEST boxer i've seen in my lifetime. Hands down and i'll never argue that with Floyd Lovers about that fact. He has more skill than anyone that's ever ducked in between those ropes to get in the ring.
But answer me this Floyd boy, do you think that we've ever seen Floyd at his best? Have we ever seen Floyd go out there and unload his whole arsenal from the bells first sound? NO. If he did, there's not a person on the earth that he couldn't walk through. But instead, Floyd would rather win 7 or 8 rounds and spend the rest running around. He just doesn't care about that fan in the front row. He just cares about the green and the zero.
I fully realize this sounds silly but at 48-0, hundreds of millions of dollars of profit and titles in 5 weight divisions....I think Floyd has UNDERACHIEVED. I really think that he will look back and have regrets about playing it so safely in the ring and not showing how bad he really could be.

First of all, Floyd doesn’t have the same fighting style as Rigondeaux and Lara.
Second, in regards to your claim about Floyd
not winning “in the eyes of the fans” and
“in the historical court of greatness”, the following facts seem irrefutable in nature:
• It appears that Floyd’s bouts against the likes of Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah , Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Márquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, Saúl Álvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Maidana (twice).. . will achieve at combined total of at least 20 million PPV buys.
• It also seems likely that the top four of Floyd’s PPV’s (Pacquiao, Canelo, De La Hoya & Cotto) will achieve a combined total of $900m in gross revenue.
If your so-called “fans” consider Floyd as “boring”, then why do they continue to shell out their hard-earned cash over-and-over again in order to watch a man they “don’t want to see”?

If MP hadn't been shutdown so easily then we would've had a better fight, this Kirk vs Canel fight wasn't a boxing match, it was a brawl with one very defensively deficient fighter.
Imagine how much easier Floyd would've picked off James with the way he was swinging against a slower Canelo.
Styles makes fights, Manny couldn't do jack with Floyd.

This is just nonsensical babble, Canelo and Kirkland are world class boxers. Their fight was very entertaining and also showed real skill. You don't actually have to fight off the back foot to be a good boxer, Roberto Duran was as good a boxer as Floyd is from a technical point of view. And before you burst a vein, Floyd easily beat Canelo and would easily beat Kirkland too.

LOL to busting a vein, I mean the way people are carrying on about this fight you'd swear these were the most technically proficient fighters in the sport going at it, it was James Kirkland (a raw slugger with limited defense and slow, wide punches).
Duran wasn't defensively comparable to Floyd so in that sense neither was his offensive to defensive transition nowhere in the league of Mayweather's.
I just think comparing last night's fight to Floyd vs Manny is total foolery and warrants no comparison whatsoever; is MP a Brawler that is slow, with wide telegraphed punches? Is Floyd the same as Canelo?
So why are there idiots here acting as if it was Canelo vs Manny or Floyd, it was James no defense having Kirkland.

I agree with that. Manny went full reward. Fell for the same things over and over again.
