Supposedly..but not in all cases. Over a period of time, I timed numerous bouts & found some timekeepers start the round clock when they ring the bell, others wait for ref's order to box, which can be anything up to 5+ seconds because corners were slow getting out of the ring. Some corners do it purposely over & over again to pinch as much rest for its charge.
Maybe no big deal, but heaps can happen within 5 seconds in a round.

e.g. Given a 10 rounder is scheduled over 39 minutes, if my charge whether champ or challenger fought beyond 39 minutes I'd be looking at No Contest result...no matter what the score was...nor stoppage

So did Shannan Taylor when introduced in NSW In most cases it's 2 thick wood sticks. Some have court judge's or auctioneer's wood hammer & block
