Artur Beterbiev will fight Doudou Ngumbu on June 12th in Chicago. He's not a bad opponent, considering Beterbiev has had only 8 pro fights.
This is shaping up to be an interesting boxing card. Hopefully they'll find decent opponents for Alvarez and Szpilka.

Considering who Beterbiev has already beaten, it is a crappy opponent. I doubt that it will last more than 3 rounds.

I concur with ikorolev. Given that Beterbiev has already KO'd Campillo and Cloud in 4 rounds and 2 rounds, it really doesn't matter how many fights he's had. The only way I can find Ngumbu acceptable is if it's part of an effort to stay active and pad the W-L numbers on his short resume. Given that he's fighting Ngumbu just 2 months after Campillo, he gets a pass. But if he was fighting guys like Ngumbu with 5-month gaps in between, it would not really be all right.

As a stay-active opponent after fighting 2 months ago, and considering Beterbiev has only 8 pro fights, Ngumbu is okay.
Hopefully Beterbiev will move on to a better opponent next time out - but he's managed by Al Haymon now, so perhaps not.

Ngumbu went the distance with Fonfara. I say this is a good measuring stick to see where he is at this point in his career. Let us not forget that Artur is going to have a hard time getting quality opponents at this point. No one wants to fight this guy yet. There is not enough money yet to fight him for the risk you have to take.

They should put these fools in real fights instead of wasting peoples time.

100% agree. Beterbiev isn't one of these up and coming guys who is given plenty of time to settle into the pros. He smashed Cloud in his 6th fight. I guess they don't quite think he is ready for Kov or Stevenson, so they are keeping him busy.

I know nowt about the opponent but given that he went the distance with Fonfara recently, and this bout is in Chicago, are we on the verge of seeing Beterbiev v Fonfara?

They wanted Beterbiev to fight one more time before the Ramadan.

Sad because Doudou was a real test. Awkward grinder with good cumulative pop, durable, good stamina...

Beterbiev is going to be a super star. His built like a video game character, and is a destroyer type like Mike Tyson was in the mid 1980's.
As such these warm up acts don't bother me. I'll be watching.

There was a good interview and feature on Beterbiev in last weeks Boxing News, he's a serious customer and is really in the mix at light heavy.

I don't think its much difference between Ngumbu & Johnson neither are threat to win.
