Risky fight for Quigg considering the potential payday of a Frampton match up. If Quigg doesnt deal with Martinez then all bargaining rights against Framtpon are long gone.

It interests me. Frampton has dealt with Martinez twice so it's now up to Quigg to do a similar job.

Quigg's real opponent?

I don't think that this fight has been signed yet, not to mention publically abounded... So this topic could all be just a big waste of time.

And, if we are talking about the "Carl Frampton" angle, I would say that it's infinitely more likely that he'll fight someone like Jeromy Parodi or Hugo Cazares...

Scott had a blatant tendency to fight undemanding fights and win them convincingly.

Its being announced literally as I type, people at the presser have confirmed its Kiko I believe.

Its an ok fight considering Quiggs awful run of fights as so-called world champion. It has the compare it to Frampton angle I suppose but doesn't really excite me. Kiko wasn't the same fighter who fought Carl the first time round when they met again so he's certainly not now.

if it is Martinez:

However, if it is Kiko Martinez - I'd be pleasantly surprised. And first off I'd commend Scott for making the step up and fighting more challenging opponents.

Secondly, Scott would need to be at his very best to get through this test. And if he does, it cements his place as a World Champion - at least he'd be fighting credible challengers.

The result? Y'know I would not be shocked if Martinez got the W. In my view, Scott has not shown us enough to prove that he can consistently perform at the elite level and excel.

Nothing wrong with this as a defence at all, only query I have had about Quigg is his ability to hold a big shot, I will get my question answered and we can also do the inevitable comparisons as to how Quigg deals with Kiko compared to Frampton.

Decent fight, if its not Frampton, it works for me.

Decent enough fight but yet again another example of how boxing has too many champions and not enough challengers.

Cotto - Geale another one.

Cracking match up. Don't see how anyone could complain.

Yeah, cheers mate. I'd actually say that it's a fairly good matchup, I'll definitely be watching it with interest.

I'm not a fan of Scott because of his let's say "less challenging" approach he took with his World Tile defenses, but I'd like to see him do well in this and further underline the importance of a fight between him and Frampton.

He isnt a world champion though?

Its a good opponent but a bit of a lose lose situation for Quigg unless he does him a few rounds. If he wins, people will just say yeah but Framptons already beat him twice, if he loses or draws, he probably wont even get the Frampton fight.

I know mate, he's a paper champion - he didn't beat the champ (Rigondeaux) for his title... I'm aware of all that, however he does have the WBA World Title.

I'm interested for the same reasons. Quigg needs to be impressive against what is his best opponent who has still been demolished twice by his domestic rival.

Could Martinez do the same as he did to Dunne? It was many years ago but you never know...

If Joshua is on the card he better be fighting Dillon whyte. If so this will be the 1st opponent he faced that actually believes they will win and will come to win.

I think that this fight will be decent! Kiko always comes to fight and the styles should gel!
