I'm pleased to see that Danny's hard work and perseverance has rewarded him with another world title shot.

An interesting fact: Sidon was Odlanier Solis' debut opponent (KO1). Sidon fought Valuev in his second fight - the referee tried to stop the fight in the second, with Sidon being outclassed and Valuev's people saying the fight should be stopped for the German's safety; however, Sidonfelt it was too early and the fight continued after the referee left the ring! Officially a no contest - apparently the fighters completed six rounds.

Hassan Chitsaz is the oldest active heavy I think. Aged 57. 26-1 record. Lined up for Wilder

I don't know for sure but I imagine that Cotto was paid a fee to wear the belt in an attempt to give it some credibility, that was the first WBB championship to be awarded

As far I recall he was completely unaware he was fighting for the WBB 'title' until the belt was thrust at him at the end.

Thanks for the heads up Gnome. That really is one of the most bizarre fights I've seen.

It appears the ref didn't like Sidon getting hit and practically gave him a standing 8 every time he did. After the ref stopped the fight, objects were sent hurtling onto the ring, including a bottle of bubbly. So, Sidon's trainer persuaded Valuev to carry on fighting and he briefly acted as ref before the actual referee returned and reluctantly officiated the rest of the unofficial contest.

no wonder boxing is meaningless these day, you can have a record of 0-20-0 and get a 'world title' shot. Fcuking meaningless sport! The sport has been ruined by a bunch of crooks who invent titles. The only dissapointing thing is people will actually fight for them.
