Eddie has got a great stable and there's at least half a dozen who can become world champion but its clear to see the fighters are losing fans due to the match ups and the reluctance to make the big fights especially with fighters not fighting fellow Matchroom fighters,the WBA "Ordinary" titles that Quigg and McDonnell hold losses them fans alone, although Jamie's win over Kameda will bring some guys around


Nothing wrong with his stable, IMO it is one of the best in the world but we need big fights,the rare times we do get 50/50 fights we're hit with a PPV charge

Yes many times imo.Fighters like Degale/Butler/Mcdonnel/Burns/Mitchell/Selby/Crolla/Quigg/Flanagahn have been or will be in some big fights(not massive fights but pretty decent) recently, the shows have been selling more tickets more often the last couple of years,Groves/Fury/BJS should be in some big fights soon and I have high hopes for Joshua.Has British boxing been better in the past? for sure at times when we had a few elite fighters at the same time but I believe we have more depth at the moment and who knows Khan might finally get his shot at Mayweather.Hearn and Wazza both need to step it up as well with Hearn having put on some shit lately witch with the size of his stable is pretty poor.

I think he brought Froch along to the negotiations so he could tell them himself.

I just feel sorry for the Fringe Promoters who put cracking cards together and won't get the chance to show case their wares on Sky. Not sure the Monopoly is a good thing long term.

Well it does carry a large proportion of the UK's top boxers but it would be class for boxing fans to have Hatton/Goodwin etc shows as well to mix it up. Bring Friday Fight Nights back and show small hall shows to fill gaps in between the Matchroom dates.

I reckon they are probably banking on Joshua becoming heavyweight champion around 2017 and cashing in with big PPV shows, everybody loves heavyweight boxing, the casuals will lap it up. Without Joshua i'm not sure Hearn would get exclusivity.

Could also be down to them trying to keep things simple, dealing with one promoter exclusively probably makes their job easier.

I feel the whole exclusivity thing is not good for boxing.

It's good for Sky, and obviously great for Matchroom but not for boxing.

As said above it is pretty clear Matchroom and Sky are looking to just cash in on Anthony Joshua, which I am sure was a massive bargaining tool for Matchroom.

However with it being five years it really does kick other smaller promoters, who are putting on great cards, right in the goolies.

It's a shame.

I would love allegedly to grow or continue to grow so we arent so reliant on Sky and Matchroom for decent domestic boxing.

I dislike matchroom, how Hearn talks utter shite and the whole situation but I can understand/go with them having a big deal but why does it need to be exclusive? Give him 20 dates and leave 5 open. That will give other promoters a chance to sign fighters and it will mean Hearn will have to make better matches else risk losing out as the promoters who use the 5 open dates could be getting better ratings with their shows. No competition = complicity

Exactly. Or even give him 20 dates and keep 10-15 free but he has exclusivity over Saturday nights. Others can be Friday or even midweek now Sky has lost Champions League.

We really need BT Sport to make their move as soon as possible. The money they have available to them could potentially change the domestic landscape instantly if they were serious about it. As has been said, this monopoly isn't healthy at all.

Are BeIN sports ever going to come over here? Their pockets are big and they have been great for fans of lower weight action in the US

Sky putting on too much tosh at the moment really has become a case of 'quantity over quality'!

Can sort of work out the regional policy though fights gotta be competitive!
