obviously if groves wins his title fight then a rematch is the logical fight.

However I'm unsure when groves is fighting. If degale fights in the meantime who should he face?

Does he have to take a mandatory defence against I believe Ramirez or would he be free to go straight in for a unification fight against the winner of AA v Stieglitz?

Ramirez would be a good first defence. Get the mandatory out the way then it would make the negotiations for any Groves fight easier. All ifs and buts at the moment though!

Fighting Froch makes more sense than rematching Groves.

He'll fight Smith after he demolishes Ward

Maybe he's not, but it is still the fight DeGale should be chasing. It has a much higher risk to reward ratio than Groves II.

I'm under the impression Froch is going to announce his intentions next week - retire or name his next opponent. There's nothing for Degale to chase right now.

He can talk to Hearn and the media about it. Try to hype it up and try to get it made.

does eddie wants this fight for degale? degale is still youngish and now world champ and froch seemingly has 1 or no fights left. Froch is too dangerous to degale for eddies liking, surely?

It makes sense in terms of being the most lucrative but it terms of what's good for his career I think he should let froch fight someone else.

It's a very high risk for such an inexperienced champion especially when there are so many options in Europe and the U.S., I think degale has now won a genuine world title and should be looking to grow into the belt by fighting 2 or 3 other top level fighters before gunning for the top dogs in froch and ward.

AA, Stieglitz, Ramirez, Chavez jr, groves or jack, sturm if he's up a smw, I'd even be thinking of calling out triple G, that's purely a legacy building fight.

He'll get a huge payday in a winnable fight against a very well respected world class fighter. Even if DeGale loses he'll still be a top 5 ranked super middleweight and won't have to wait too long to get another world title shot.

I'm sure Eddie would love this fight. If DeGale wins he'll vastly improve his credibility and reputation nationally and internationally, could become a PPV fighter and could replace Froch as Hearn's main guy.

If Froch wins then the Groves vs DeGale rematch will still be a big fight in the future, after a comeback fight or two, and Froch might still want to continue for a bit longer and have big fights with Golovkin etc.

I see your point, but if froch was to detonate like he did on groves, it could be very career threatening. Groves has not looked great since in my opinion.

I think Groves's got a very good chance. Groves is getting written off far too early in my opinion.

It's a far more risky fight for DeGale to take than the Froch fight. Far more to lose, with less to gain.

I just don't think Groves could beat a boxer like Degale without Adam Booth in his corner. I remember that fight even though I thought Degale nicked it Booth came out with a different style of boxing for Groves and I just don't think Groves could do it again without Booth. Degale is improving a lot more faster that Groves is

DeGale should consistently talk sh!t about Froch. Make it personal, and claim the local bragging rights while touting he won his crown from the guy who probably beat Froch.

DeGale's best option is Froch. If Carl doesn't bite DeGale should go for 3G, infuriating Froch. That's the way to Carl's heart.

18 months ago i would have made Groves favourite but whilst Groves has looked 'off' it since the Froch KO, Degale has improved. If it happened later this year I would now make Degale favourite.

Degale reminds me of an early Froch (not style wise). Its quite frustrating to watch at times as you know he can give a little bit more than he is.

I think they will have a standard defense in October (Kell Brook approach), maybe someone like Patrick Nielsen (Sauerland?). And, then face the mandatory in Jan/Feb (Ramirez/Jackson most likely), followed by the big showdown between Groves and DeGale in May/June.

He will fight in October in a relatively easy fight (Rocky Fielding probably) in London, while Groves works for sky at ringside.
Que lots of bad mouthing and cheap shots, even the occasional push with a view to selling next year's PPV bout between the two.
