I reckon Khan would give Mayweather problems, wether he can beat him or not is another thing. Part of me wants him to get passed by again because of his arrogance and sub-standard opposition.

Too right,is anyone remotely interested in the Algieri fight, and who would buy tickets for this nonsense anyway.Khan is trying to sell this by saying he went the distance with Manny and to the general public it's true and a good selling point but they won't be aware of the 6 knock downs and one of the biggest points losses in the history of boxing.I too hope he misses out on the Mayweather fight and has to start fighting the likes of Brook,Thurman,Bradley etc instead of this rubbish.

I am not really interested in the Algieri fight no. I will record it and watch it on the Saturday during the day but I think we all know what's going to happen in the fight. I don't blame Khan for wanting the Mayweather fight it's just the way he tries to justify these type of fights and still thinks he deserves to be in with the big names. Maidana got the Mayweather fight off the back of his win against Broner and Khan should've went for a decent name and done a job to try and force the issue.

Has anyone noticed coverage of this fight anywhere other than on here or other dedicated boxing places?

Nobody i know has mentioned this to me so far which is pretty shocking for a Khan fight a few days out

Not really. In fact, I only remembered it was on this morning.

Sadly, Amir Khan just isn't as popular in Britain as he so desperately wishes he is.

I remember him saying when the fight was first announced that he was expecting plane loads of fans to fly over to New York as it was only a short flight, or something along those lines.

Khan has spent an entire career wanting to be as popular as Ricky Hatton, and moaning that he isn't.

To be fair to Khan, quite a few boxers who have turned over after seeing the popularity of Hatton seem to think that people should be following them in similar numbers automatically. Hatton was an exception to the rule. I'm not 100% sure how it happened for him but Hatton definitely worked hard to win people over.

Like you've said though Khan has spent his whole career expecting it and not even trying to understand why he has failed. The blame game always seems to lie away from him. The majority of boxers from this country would be lucky to see their family follow them out for a world title shot let alone an army of fans prepared to shell out £5k+ to watch a flashy upstart. I think there was probably only around 30 who went to Paris to watch Haye v Mormeck

naz was surported well maybe not liked but he had fans ,i do think khan gets considered a soft touch by some because he's brown there just isn't a tradition of indian/pakistan/bangladesh boxers .

Hatton had his army of fans because he was a bloke from your estate and acted like it. He drunk like you, he are pies like you, he played darts like you.

Then he stepped in te ring and fought like a bloke from the streets. With bucket loads of heart and determination.

Khan doesn't act like that and hasn't since he turned over, he has always held himself above everyone, he over estimates his ability. He does himself no favours with his personality.he could gèt fans to like him by being humble, working hard rather than demanding te mayweather fight. Everyone I know wants khan to get wiped out when he fights and it's not because he's Asian it's because he's an arrogant prick

I'll agree with this.

Khan was calling out Mayweather when he was still fighting four rounders. That isn't how to endear yourself to fans. Then claiming that the only reason fans hate him is because he's of Asian descent made him look a fanny as well, because it just isn't true. He was falsely claiming people were racist, when they weren't. How's that supposed to make fans?

His fights are always exciting, so he has that going for him. But his personality turns a lot off him.

Anyone who doesn't believe Khan gets significant racist abuse just needs to look up one of his fights on YouTube and have a read through the comments.

Khan had lots of support early on because when he turned over he came across as a likable talented young lad, then as the money rolled in he began to change(as anyone would when you've had fornicate all in your life) then came the blowout to Prescott where unfortunately these days if you lose you're considered damaged goods and people lost interest in him. Then there was the driving like a dick, cheating, calling us all racists and pissing off to the States it's no surprise people here can't warm to him is it?

I like the guy personally, I think a lot of his problems boil down to naivety and keeping the wrong sort of company.

That is not boxing fans though. Unfortunately, there are a loud minority of people in this country who think they can say whatever they like in order to get a reaction from famous folk.

Anyone is fair game to them but to compare boxing fans to those is harsh
