Eubank Jr

Just listening to Warren on IFL, and he is talking about why the Eubank Saunders rematch isnt happening, and is saying that it's all down to the Eubank's just being incredibly awkward.

I dont think the rematch should happen so soon but nevertheless Chris Eubank Jr's career is really going to struggle to progress if promoters dont want to work with his dad.

Whatever talent Eubank has it is being mismanaged at the moment.

On the other hand, at 25 he has a good ten years ahead of him. Why dance to franks tune just because it's best for the promoter, Tv channel and opponent ? It must be really awful for fwank when people don't do what he wants.

Eubank Sr. is becoming a hindrance, to be honest.

I know his father will have gotten him opportunities, contacts and training that somebody with a less famous father wouldn't have had. But you get the feeling that Sr. cares more about showing off and posturing for the camera than he cares about his son's career.

Believe it or not, if I watch a CE Jr. fight I want to see him fight. Not see his dad talking shite and climbing in the ring to pose.

FW just doesn't have the weight in British boxing anymore like he use to. I think its a good thing the Eubanks are messing him around. Getting a bit of his own medicine. There will be some big fights for Eubank if he moves up a weight. ...now that will get fight fans going again!!

He's a prima Donna. Telling his trainer to fcuk off in between rounds deserved a slap there and then.

In all honesty they're either fornicating themselves over, or they don't actually want the rematch. Saunders can't fight for the WBA interim because he'd lose his WBO mandatory position, so for the fight to happen he'd have to drop that belt. Wouldn't even lose anything because the fight would have been for the WBO interim, which would have guaranteed him a shot at Lee later this year. Whereas the WBA interim won't get him anywhere near Golovkin because first they'd need to get the WBA to enforce the fight with Jacobs, which the Eubanks can't do without Warren, then beat Jacobs, probably in America unless they had Frank backing them to get him over here, then force the mandatory with Golovkin, again not possible without Warren, then beat Golovkin, highly unlikely at best. Effectively they've thrown away his best and easiest route to a world title, a big payday and a chance to avenge his only loss, all for the sake of a plastic WBA belt.

There's no shortage of good middleweights and super middleweights in the UK these days so if the Eubanks are difficult to deal with other fighters will get the opportunities.

Done a lot better than I thought he would, and has developed into a decent pro. Hope his Dad dont mess it up for him, but there are always two sides to a story-what does being awkward mean? not signing options? wanting a decent payday? need more specifics on this story.

He will want to go over to sky. A eubank/Saunders rematch is great for the channel and for the promoter but I would not hold it against the Eubanks to move in another direction.

For that matter, I think Tyson fury is being sacrificed on the altar of the channel too. With wlad very close to retirement, it makes business sense to make a move with Tyson after wlad has gone. Wlad vs fury is great for the channel and it keeps the promoter relevant, in a keeping up with the jones's kind of way. Just look at wilder - by dodging wlad he has the world at his feet.

I would rather let the rematch brew a while longer while Eubank Jnr gains some more top level experience. I can imagine his dad would be a nightmare to negotiate with right enough! I loved the guy growing up and could sit and listen to him talk about his career and boxing in general all day but some of his antics at his sons fights I find a bit tedious!

In fairness to Fwank, Eubank Sr must be a real headache during negotiations, i can vision him being a petty, awkward troublesome sort to deal with.

Can't see them going over to Sky where they'll have to work with Hearn, Senior seems to want as much control over his sons career as possible and I don't think he'd fancy giving that up to Hearn.

Tyson isn't being sacrificed, there's no way that Peter would allow that to happen, if they didn't think he could win the fight, or weren't happy with the money they wouldn't be taking the fight. If he loses he's young enough to come again after Wlad retires, won't do him any harm if he loses.

I'd hardly say that Wilder has the world at his feet, his next opponent is one of the worst Heavyweight title challengers in history, his main rivals are thousands of miles away in Europe and sooner or later someone will connect hard and clean on his chin and leave his career in pieces.

But what is Eubank going to do now ? Saunders will have a fight with Lee for the WBO belt later this year.

Eubank has a joke title though in fairness he looked class in his last fight against someone who was fairly decent.

Makes no sense why they have pulled out.

If it's understandable for Saunders to remain with wbo for his title shot- I've lost count how many he has had. Why can't eubank jnr be afforded the same respect for not wanting to relinquish his alphabet soup world interim belt?

Easy wins against hammer and chisora are no preparation for wlad and the ease of those wins are no indication he has a chance with wlad either. Tysons people are basically hoping the size difference will be decisive and that wlad is on the decline. A heroic loss to wlad would not harm his career but it may not work out like that, wlad could poleaxe him, and badly expose him before the ends comes. Fwank needs a big fight for his channel and to save face and that's why this is happening. That, and the lack of depth in his stable.

Why? Have you ever negotiated anything with him? The guy was a good fighter, knows the game inside out. Maybe he just dont want his son to sign away his life or maybe he wants him to get paid a decent purse. That doesnt make him petty or awkward.

As for being mismanaged he got a title shot on the back of a few years as a pro, and without any real amateur experience, so not being managed too badly imo.

I agree with some of your post but boxing doesn't owe Eubank Snr anything and he acts (in front of the cameras at least) as though it does, Eubank Jnr has benefitted from name recognition above his boxing ability and results - he's no where near ready for world level boxers, he's fit and strong but does not have a trainer who can rectify faults or who he'll listen to. Eubank Snr ought to wrangle another reality TV series and be happy.

I enjoyed the first fight but feel a rematch hasn't baked long enough yet.

Saying that, wouldn't you expect Eubank Jr to want to avenge his loss as soon as physically possible and take Saunders ranking ?

Also bare in mind old fish eyes has a track record of not paying/shafting fighters.

All that glitters is not gold.

But that's a different circumstance. I think Eubank knows what he's on about and can still aid Eubank Jnr.

Eubank sr knows Fwanks reputation for slipperiness and therefore wants everything double locked is my guess as to what's happening and hence him being awkward.
As for Eubank jr he lacks world class power at MW so will not benefit from going up to SMW he is a good fighter in other respects though
