Not really sure if its any big deal but ive never really seen Mr Pro Michael Buffer screw up so much at a weigh in. He calls Kevin Johnson Kevin Mitchell twice then screws up the fighters weights.....

The big boys weighed:

Johnson 245lb
Joshua 248lb

But Buffer calls Johnson 16 st 1 and Joshua 17st 10

WTF?..... and im hearing a rumour its 20K to get buffer over here, plus 5 star hotel and club class travel...... not bad eh?

The worst one I remember was when he announced 'Dazzling Darren Baker' before the Martinez fight, proper cringe moment

Definitely been cracks in his act of late. He sounded horrendous at MayPac, but i think he was sick at the time.

Kingpin must have been mildly furious with that display.

If he said Joshuas name wrong Eddie Hearn would have been swinging....

It seems to me like he's made an increasing number of gaffes over the last few years, even incorrectly announcing the result of the first Sturm-Soliman bout.

Yes, because taking a minute or so to note changes in a famous announcer's showings means that one doesn't have a life

He's still excellent at what he does in my opinion, but like many of the boxers discussed here he's had better days.

In general, i couldn't give a monkeys about the announcer. The fighters make the fight, Graham Norton could introduce them and it wouldn't have an impact on my enjoyment.

However, he is being brought over to supposedly bring a touch of class and give it a big fight feel that some fans enjoy. He is being paid very well. In my book it's fair to bring him up on this as it leaves him and the promoter feeling the standards have dropped.

It could just be down to tbe information he was given but if you say you are the best then you have to meet your own high standards.

He's paid millions to say a few words,he usually only does 1 fight on every card,the least he can do is learn the guys name,if weights etc are wrote down wrong then fair enough but getting a name wrongs pretty poor showing

yup no excuse he was crap it's a shame eddie didn'y give his money to some of the less well paid boxers on the bill instead. He has an easy job and still messes up.

He's the best announcer "Get Ready To Rumble" brilliant! his brothers pretty good aswell in the UFC, it gets you right up for the big fights. I thought it was pretty funny his mistake. it will probably get more views for the IFLTV lads

Wasn't it him that announced David Starie as being from 'Bury STREET Edmund's?
Easy mistake to make,but it always makes me smile when I think of it.

I think Stewpot will be gracing the bright lights of Las Vegas after Buffer retires

I particularly liked it at Povetkin vs Perez where he appeared to start to announce the Cuban's weight as 1.5 tonnes, before somebody interrupted him.

To be frank, if either guy is getting paid that much, they are being chronically overpaid, I mean, there's countless voice actors could do that with a little bit of prep - it's money for old rope, and I'd expect people to get it right for that kind of money. Buffer has carved a pretty incredible niche for himself as 'Mr world title fight' so if he screws up, then he quite rightly should be criticised.
