Who is the best heavyweight contender under age 30?

What about this aussie browne. ... I personally haven't seen him fight but there's a few noises about him. ?

Just a good dig. All the listed fighters would beat him IMO.

Wilder is the best of the bunch, but Joshua looks like a force in the making & I quite like Hughie Fury too.

I don't know if HF will amount to much, but I like watching him.

Best in terms of achievements obviously but it could be argued he's technically the poorest of the 5 but he seems a tremendous athlete.

True, I was pleasantly surprised. But Stiverne is very limited. Plodding forward with no real movement.

What about Ruiz and Breazeale (spelling)?

I've been impressed with Ruiz when I've seen him although his physique is reminiscent of Mr Blobby.

Deontay Wilder is going to be 30 this year. He has been fighting for 7 years and has 33 fights already. On top of that he is a Heavyweight Champion. He is by far not a contender.

Joseph Parker is probably a bit too small to succeed as a heavyweight. Also, he'll have to move to America or Europe if he wants to progress as the top heavyweights aren't going to New Zealand.

Hugie Fury has bags of talent and is getting fitter. I just wish he'd keep his hands up more and box in a more conventional style. His single punch offence is fine for the amateurs. but not so well suited for the pro game.

Deontay Wilder has beaten one half decent heavyweight on points and got a world title for his troubles. The second best opponent he faced is Malik Scott. So, we don't really know what he's capable of. All we have to go on are some mixed fortunes from his amateur days and a parade of light hitting journeyman in the pros.

Tyson Fury is a good boxer for his size and has enough punching power to hurt almost anyone. A lack of discipline at times has left him open to punches he shouldn't take if he wants to become world champion. When he wants to box from the outside the smaller fighters he's faced have found him untouchable.

Anthony Joshua is very good at sensing when his opponent is hurt and is ruthless when it comes to taking his chances. That's very good. What we don't know is how he reacts to receiving a hard punch, how he deals with a frustrating opponent and what happens when he's seven or eight rounds into a hard fight.

I would say Dillian Whyte is at least as good as Parker, so he should be on the list, too.

Yeah but it says "young contender". Young contenders are fighters who are still developing. Wilder is fighter who is already established in what he is.

I think the best young heavyweight contender is still in the amateurs. Of the group I would say Fury he's the most battle tested.

Mr. Blobby is not my idea of a serious prospect unless it's for a hotdog eating contest.
Rivas looked like a serious prospect as an amateur back in 2007. Now he's 27 and what has he done?
It's too early to say what will happen to a novice with a record of 4-0 (3) against absolute nobodies.
Braezeale is being brought along slowly and carefully. Trouble is, he's 30 years old and he's still at the novice level. He might make it.

Those great young cruisers better hope the top heavyweights are a lot smaller than the current elite list when they grow into that division. Otherwise, their chances of success are not very good.

I can't argue with Dillian Whyte being on the list.
Rico Verhoeven is Dutch. That's all that needs to be said about him.
Spong is also (sort of) Dutch, 30 years old and has just had his first fight as a boxer.

Anthony Joshua is miles ahead of the likes of Mike Wilson or Andy Ruiz. Frankly, it is a bit insulting to even compare those sorts of guys to him. Tyrone Spong is possibly the smallest guy on the list in terms of build. I say possibly because Andy Ruiz resembles the Michelin Man and might really be a middleweight also. Spong is probably heavy on the gas to get near or over 200lbs. Rico Verhoven has the better chance at heavyweight success and only if he takes up a spoiler/octopus style like Matt Skelton did years ago.

Wilder is 29 now, does that even qualify as "young"?

It does these days, when some of the guys at the top of the sport are pushing 40 years old & still reigning supreme.

Parker or Joshua. I would like to see Joshua go rounds... because for now i think Parker is doing good and his pop is still efficient even vs gatekeepers...
