Great move, confident Frankie can fulfill his potential at 140lb.

He should have been significantly more disciplined and done this years back, then the last three years would not have been wasted. It was clear to even an uninitiated an onlooker as me (an unabashed armchair fan) that he was too slight for the weight and as a result he's only got himself to blame. How did he think he was going to contrive a WW title? Fight a couple of anorexics?

He's always worked with him. I've been a massive fan of Gavin, but he can't say stuff like that.

Agree a 100%. If he'd realised this 3 years ago he may have already managed to win a world title. Although that would have had to have been against one of the weaker champions.

Sure he's not taking the piss, i.e being sarcy because hes sick of hearing people say he should move to LWW? He also retweeted someone saying something like regroup and fight for the european in Brum September, thats what I can see happening.

I'm surprised he actually weighed 155 pounds on the morning of the fight,didn't catch Kell's weight though,does anyone know what it was?

First and foremost this is 5 years to late, Frankie has had people screaming at him for years to stay at 140 and personally i think if he had even the slightest bit of professionalism and dedication he could have stuck at 135 for quite a while after turning pro.

He hasn't improved anywhere near enough as a professional, and i dont think he has had the talent to go above British or european level for a long time, regardless of division. he was a beneficiary of the point scoring amateur system, and to be fair to him had perfected it to an art form.

He's had a good and solid career that wll always be seen as a let down.

Not sure he could of stayed at lightweight, but your probably right about him being Euro level.

After seeing him struggle against the likes of Woodhouse and Skeete, he's probably already found his ceiling as a pro.

Think the last post hit the nail on the head, he was a superb amateur and had a style suited to the point system. Slick, tidy boxing is obviously a great bonus to a pro but if its not backed up with physical strength, power, conditioning amongst other things then it will only carry someone so far. Im in no position to criticise Frankie Gavin for what and what he cannot do but Im among those who would like to see him try a lower division.

He won't have the power at LWW either but it's certainly a better move than 147. So stubborn for so long yet finally willing to do it? Me thinks Hearn must have gave him an Ultimatum

Good move but definitely a bit late as others have said. Some good domestic scraps for him at LWW though with Saunders, Ryan, Nurse, Hibbert, Catteral, Jenkins, Stalker etc.

Wouldn't mind seeing most of those, although Gavin has a tendency to turn even the tastiest match ups into stinkers when he's in the mood.

Who out of the names mentioned do you guys think he could/couldn't beat?

Also, is nobody interested in a Gavin V Eggington match up at welter? Or it it just way too early for Sam?

They said on Radio 5 Live that he was up at SMW weight on day of fight

I thought it was IBF rules that you can only put on 10lbs? I thought I read Brook was around 154/155 as well, but I could be wrong

I agree with you on this. He's spent his whole career saying he can't make it so he's not going to change now.
