Robin Reid gets a break...

Paul Thomas and Richie Davies are two of the judges (along with a Frenchman) for Robin Reid's big fight with Brian Magee over the weekend at the legendary King's Hall.
Two English judges...not bad for an Englishman fighting away from home.

Any news on the Ref? Hopefully it's a competent ref, who won't let Magee get away with turning this fight into another clinch-athon.

No, annoyingly, there was no mention of the ref. Yes, he will need to be competent. Both men are naughty with the head and Reid can get very spiteful.

Which sanctioning body will the ref be coming from? The IBO or the WBA (this is a WBA eliminator isn't it?). Not that it really matters, but you usualy get better refs working for the bigger belts (not including Tillerman.)

I was reaching for refs/judges in danish fights and found out that Tilleman has been a ref/judge in Denmark at a card. There he judged an IBA & an IBC/IBF intl fight + some normal fights. So it looks like he works for the "I" sanctionbodies. I would really laugh if he will be involved in Reid vs Magee.

I heard Tillerman retired after he was getting threats after the reid - ottke match.

The IBO, mate. It's not a WBA eliminator. Barry Hearn is now targetting WBC champ Cristian Sanavia for Magee if he wins. The Belfast southpaw is ranked in the top 10 by both the WBA and the WBC. Reid is not ranked in the top 10 by either but cracks the top 10 with the IBF.

Well if Paul Thomas and Davies have anything to do with it (both who are allegded to be in FW back pocket) then I would say Reid gets it,Reid then fights Calzaghe as FW could aways work with reid

THREE English officials for a fight involving an Englishman! Where's the neutrality? The IBO's credibility (if it has any credibility) stinks to High Heaven.

Hate to say this, especially as my family are catholics from Northern Ireland, but officially Northern Ireland is England, and therefore it's perfectly reasonable.

I thought it was British as opposed to English? Obviously not. Still think it's dodgy.

Theoretically, Northern Ireland is English territory if memory seves correctly, and is part of the united Kingdom as a whole.
