if you were his trainer, what would be your call?
mine is mid '16 at the latest. two, maybe three
more fights.

If he keeps demolishing his opposition, why expire him. Of course, he is not fun to watch, but he is a good measuring stick for the other heavyweights.

I'd say Wilder & out; hopefull at the end of 2015, although that's highly unlikely.

If he can beat Wilder, then he will have the last remaining 'prestgious' belt & he will have beaten the last remaining 'bogeyman' in his career.

No-one could (not that they ever would) say that he wasn't truly the best man of his era.

I actually think he is on his last leg. The jennings win was not impressive to me. But Wlad is damned near 40 so it is expected.

Did he give any of them a chance ? Jennings wasn't stopped, but how many rounds did he win. Wlad is playing safe, but nobody has come close to beating him in many years.

He certainly looked poor against Jennings though credit to the American for that.

I think he should retire before his 40th birthday. he is still very good but not as fast as 2-3 years ago. vitali was also slowing down quite a bit when he was 39-40.

I'd keep him busy. Let him fight 1-2 top ten ranked fighters a year, and 1-2 easy marks a year. Pass Larry Holmes title defenses if possible.

Here's the thing. Wlad is 39, however he's in fantastic shape, and really has not been punished in the ring. Sometimes it's best to measure a fighters age on the amount of blows he has taken.

2015 Fury, and a TBA
2016 Wilder, a TBA, then perhaps Joshua.

Why did he look off? Jennings had the right mix of durability, athleticism, courage and size to make it competitive. Wlad showed the legs of a younger man, and that's usually the first thing to go.

The other potential opponents are going to be easier to hit, and are less likely to take it as well. I predict Wlad will destroy Fury, looking nearly as good as he did vs. Pulev.

Expiration date?

He hasn't had a close fight in 10 yrs.

Answer: no time soon.

i think the new line of heavy prospects have
the potential to challenge wlad, meaning his
age is becoming more of a factor by the day.

While Wlad is winning, not taking too many shots and wants to carry on there is no reason for him to stop.

Until someone lives up to the potential to take him on it might be time for a re-think but until hes pushed close it will be business as usual.

Wlad still looks excellent... Since he is mainly using his lead hand and not getting hit too much anymore, i'd say he is good to go for while... He is in perfect shape... His style relies on his lead hand and pop which are still both EXCELLENT

He's going to want a piece of the Wilder and especially Joshua cash-outs.

The way AJ is being promoted that will be a ridiculously big fight in either mans back yard. Would comfortably outsell the Haye PPV numbers (and they were impressive)

That seems to be his goal. If he comes through then we will see how he looks, it is difficult to look beyond immediate future.

Fury, Glazkov, then whoever he wants for defense 21 and his final fight.

These guys coming up are the real thing:
Deontay Wilder
Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua
Joseph Parker
Hughie Fury
Dillian Whyte

and though he is promoted by K2 and will never fight Klitschko Oleksandr Usyk has to be in the mix.

I don't think Usyk will be an elite heavyweight. I don't think he will have the durability or chin to be successful at heavyweight.

Totally agree. He is not a HW material. We still need to see him against a good durable CW pressure fighter like Calenga. I would love to see Beterbiev fight him without head gear and awkward gloves.

Who the f^&* wants to see him with Glazkov?? . . . . :o

Glazkov is a mandatory and there aren't many options that I'd consider realistic (I don't think people like Parker and Joshua would take the fight at this stage) and interesting.

i think wlad is not as invincible as he might seem
at the moment. if wilder can manage to keep his
cool he could really be a challenge. of course he
was never jabbed like that.

i can't see fury beat him though. still think fury
is overrated, but i thought the same about froch
and was proven terribly wrong.
