Let's assume that this is correct. This means that Michael Buffer makes more money than most of the boxers on any given card he performs on aside from boxing's elite. If I were some of these boxers risking my life in the ring for far less, I wouldn't be happy with these figures. Good for the PBC for not wasting money on this type of garbage and silly catch phrase throwing one trick pony phony.

If they got shut of Buffer there'd be no need for PPV though I cannot believe he gets paid that much per announcement. I thought the reason he was worth so much was the video game image fees?

Na that's bollocks; he gets between $25k - $100k.

He's worth so much because he has a patent on the phrase "Let's get ready to Rumble" which has been used in various forms (games, films etc.).

Buffer made the bulk of his fortune by suing and winning over the infringement usage of possibly the most famous phrase ever-

Remember about 20 years ago when you heard it everywhere, all the time?
Yeah, he had the foresight to protect that phrase during a time when everyone wasn't doing that, like now- so he lawyered up and got absolutely paid for that after many lawsuits, and now these days, you pretty much only hear it out of his mouth because he charges a lot for it's usage.
I would imagine his per fight quote is the highest in the biz for sure, but it's a pittance to what he's gotten over the years for people/companies using it without permission.
