Hello, is in pro boxing some undisputed champion? Or ...who you think is close to achieve that ?
Pretty accurate.ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. I don't know and don't care if they are "officially" undisputed (Mayweather probably is at WW), but 80+% of experts agree that they are "the men" at their weight classes.
I have a bit of a concern with Golovkin, in that there are other top contenders, and a guy who holds the lineal title, for what that's worth.ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. Ward didn't have all the belts after the super six though.koolkc107 wrote:There is NO undisputed guy.
Closest we have seen in recent memory is Ward after the Super Six.
As long as there is another beltholder out there that has not been faced and beaten, no title is undisputed.
Undisputed means ALL belts or victories over everyone who holds a belt and/or is a serious threat to hold one.
Even Floyd, who may have a claim in two weight classes, has Brook at 147 and Andrade at 154 who would say different and DISPUTE Floyd's claims.
And his subsequent disappearance from the face of the earth cost him what undisputed status he did have, in my book.Bobbyptsd wrote:Ward didn't have all the belts after the super six though.koolkc107 wrote:There is NO undisputed guy.

Your kidding right?ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. I don't know and don't care if they are "officially" undisputed (Mayweather probably is at WW), but 80+% of experts agree that they are "the men" at their weight classes.
As I said, I don't care if some of these guys are not officially undisputed. What I meant is that the vast majority of experts and sane boxing fans consider them to be "the men" in their divisions.kidbazooka1 wrote:Your kidding right?ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. How in the world is GGG undisputed champ?
Why Ward?ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. I don't know and don't care if they are "officially" undisputed (Mayweather probably is at WW), but 80+% of experts agree that they are "the men" at their weight classes.
Because he is by far better than anybody else in that shallow division.macaca wrote:Why Ward?ikorolev wrote:I would say Wlad, Ward, Golovkin, Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Roman. Golovkin is the man due to his performance in the ring and the fact that the other MW champions including the "lineal champion" Cotto have been ducking him for years.
Being the 'best' and the 'undisputed' in the division are different things.ikorolev wrote:Yes, I knew that most of them were not formally undisputed, but I still listed boxers universally considered to be the men in their divisions.
I think that's the problematic nuance here, as I mentioned about Golovkin. If we were simply talking about ''best'', I think we'd agree more easily. But ''undisputed'' is more complicated. What belts matter? Who has real challengers and who doesn't?Buonaparte wrote:Being the 'best' and the 'undisputed' in the division are different things.ikorolev wrote:Yes, I knew that most of them were not formally undisputed, but I still listed boxers universally considered to be the men in their divisions.
Kovalev is close, but he has a soft chin, so one good left hand from Stevenson can turn things around. I would say Kovalev's chances to beat Stevenson are at 70% now. Of course, they are constantly improving, because Stevenson is getting older.caldo2025 wrote:I think that Kovalev is closer than anyone to being the undisputed champion. It's also his goal to capture all of the belts and with a showdown between he and Adonis next up after his fight next month, we should finally have an undisputed champion of a division within a year or so. Kovalev knocks Adonis out in 6 rounds. Easy work. Not only is Kovalev clearly the better boxer, Adonis will be 40 years old when he finally get's the stones to climb in the ring with him.
