The WBA should be ignored.Fans should never again care about the title and not recognize any of their
champions as such.
They have become the biggest joke in boxing.

Maybe they ranked him because Ali Raymi can survive air strikes and will return to life when he gets bored of being dead.

Lol, bit unecessary to take shots at Raymi's resume

I don’t think that Dan Rafael was really criticising Ali Raymi’s resume, as he was merely complaining about the fact that the WBA had only just elevated him to being ranked as the 11th best junior flyweight on the planet when he hadn't done anything to earn it, because:
• Raymi had previously KO’d the same guy four times in a row during the prior year, subsequently fought someone even worse and didn’t deserve that rank in the first place (as there’s no logic to their decision). Basically, if the WBA thought he didn’t deserve the 11th place rank in 2014, then why elevate him in 2015?
• They elevated Raymi’s ranking two weeks after he’d passed

The WBA essentially elevated Ali Raymi’s ranking after KO'd the same guy four times in a row over a four month period during 2014, two weeks after he'd died. :o
Yeah I get that, agree with all of those points and they are fair.
I guess for me the main point that makes his elevation in the rankings ridiculous is that he has died in the meantime, to then bring up his resume and mock it (because it is a bit mad) is a bit irrelevant and cheap. :)

Mike Rossman said it best (WBA) World's Biggest Assholes.

Not sure what we are discussing here. Has somebody notified WBA about his death ? Are they supposed to rely on unofficial internet articles ? Does his death certificate even exist ? There has been only a couple weeks since we learned about that, so there is nothing outrageous in WBA still listing Ali.

Let me be clear: WBA is a corrupt organization, but this particular case is a normal disconnect/timing issue.

I questioned his resume on twitter and he got personal about me. Even with that spat on twitter I wouldn't wish anything harmful to him. I just wouldn't have hoped he challenged himself

To be fair how do they suppose to know he died in a 3rd world country.

Few years ago I alerted a WBA regional body a highly rated contender had died almost a year ago.

I can excuse the rating of Raymi. It has happened before and it will happen again.
But I can not get over the super, regular and interim champions in 17 divisions.
The WBA has turned in to a total joke in my opinion.

The WBA president - Gilberto Mendoza is from Venezuela (one of the most corrupt countries in the world). He's been the president of the WBA since like the early 80s. What can you honestly expect from an organization like this.
It will take a unified effort from the western countries like USA and UK to clean up boxing just like they are cleaning up FIFA. That's the only way. You can't expect corrupt South Americans/Caribbeans/Russians to suddenly start declaring income, filing for taxes, etc. lol

Never forget WBA's annual convention, where it conned its regional orgs to reduce their title to 11 rounds to reduce draws  Uneducated clowns bought it, albeit most bragged their title fights concluded at 60% by KO/TKO. The real reason......sub bodies shouldn't be allowed 12 rounds.

:TU:

The regular champion is beyond ridiculous. There should be no more than 8-9 divisions.

Didn't they used to only have interim champions when a champion was out for an extended period of
time or they paid step a side money for another fight to the mandatory to force the fight at a later date?
Now it seems we have interim champions for no reason.

Yup! That was the reason for Interim champ, but rarely enhanced WBA's bank account. Neither did WBC's so it ditched it & it's now Silver champ

Raymi should be named champion emeritus so he can get his rightful title shot when he returns from the grave.

They bank on boxing fans being ignorant and unsophisticated. They want people to say to their wife or friends, "Hey, we're seeing a championship fight." They don't want us to actually know anything.

Another thing that is patently ridiculous is when the #1 Ranking is VACANT.

Why don't they just be honest and write "OPEN FOR BRIBE"
