Brook vs Gavin PPV buy rate

Does anyone know how well the show done? Curious as I've seen people giving stick to Eddie , on social media, about poor sales but nobody is quoting any figures. Someone posted here earlier it did worse than Cleverly vs Bellew II.

BARB had the viewing figures at 139,000, but Cleverly-Bellew was 95,000 and it did way more than that in buys so I'm not sure if it tells us anything, the sample size with BARB is small enough for the figures to be skewed.

139,000 would bring in total ppv income of about £2.25m. Would that be seen as successful? Throw in tickets, sponsors and you could maybe get £5-6m (complete guess). Cant imagine any one fight took more than £500k in total for purses so maybe £2m max for purses and away fighter expenses for the whole card.

Can't see venue costs, admin/mgt and other stuff coming in over £2m so potentially a big financial success.

Ppv should be profitable if you're not paying ppv purses

I think it would have taken more than 500k just to get Gradovich and Linares over. I reckon your figures are well out.

There's no way that they would be expecting £500k each. What i meant though is that in between them, linares & mitchell would not cost £500k and the same applies to brook gavin and gradovich/selby.

None of them are stars and im sure they would jump at the chance of £250k. Obviously it would have been weighted in the champions favour.

I wouldn't be so sure, Eddie mentioned how expensive Linares was in particular - why would he travel around the world for a tricky fight in front of an extremely partisan crown unless it was mega money? The total purse bid for Degale & Dirrell was over $3m so £2m give or take, which I know was a mega offer but I still don't believe a card as well stacked as the one at the O2 would be worth less for 5 times as many fighters.

None of the fights at the O2 went to purse bids.
The Dirrell Chunky situation was different and boy what an offer !
No one on the O2 got close to 500k.

139,000 viewers doesn't equal 139,000 buys. BARB counts the number of people in each home watching, which came to 139,000, but the actual buy rate could have been 70,000 with an average of 2 people watching for each PPV bought. Can't see them bringing in £3-4m from ticket sales and sponsorship, they only sold 18,000 tickets and sponsorship doesn't come to huge amounts. Sky then take half of the PPV money and I'd be surprised if Brook alone got less than £500k, Linares will have got good money to travel too, he could have got a good purse to defend in America so he'll have wanted more than that to travel. Matchroom will have done well out of the show but not as well as they did on Bellew-Cleverly.

PBC are paying silly money for fights and that also had the risk of hearn winning tbe bid so they probably paid even more.

Say it was £ 500k a fight, then i think reasonable money splits would be:

Linares £350k mitchell £150k - can't see where linares would make nearly 3/4 million dollars elsewhere and thats a solid purse for mitchell with the chance of a lifetime.

Brook £400k/Gavin £100k star billing for brook, gavin gets a chance and good pay.

Gradovich/selby would cost less id imagine.

They are life changing sums for the champs and solid pay cheques with huge potential for the challengers.

Like i said, all guess work based on v draft assumptions on ppv but i don't see where anyone is going to get bigger money. None of them are no1 at their weight, none are superstars and so are not in a position to make huge demands

Are those figures actually true? The site says it's run by Matt Hamilton, if it's the same Matt Hamilton with the Boxing Tonight website then they're almost certainly made up.

Surely it would depend on how many ambulances / paramedics were at the show?

How many ambulances and paramedics were there?

Possibly - however without coming back with figures of your own (and the source of those figures) then surely your comment is equally without foundation?

Leforge will have a very educated guess.

2 ambulances at every show as per board rules.

He may have - although he hasn't said (just said that the figures quoted were made up without offering alternative figures).

I am no expert on ambulances - assuming that the 2 ambulance rule is correct, I guess that this would be the minimum requirement.

It doesn't make sense that a small hall show with 100 punters would provide the same number of ambulances as a bill 3 times as big in an arena with 18,000 people.

Does anybody know how many ambulances were actually there to cost the quoted 6 grand?

The point I am making is that there are so many variables that it is difficult to make a guess without knowing some key facts - but to say that figures are made up without any basis or foundation (and without offering an alternative) doesn't make sense to me.

The ambulances are there for the fighters in cases of serious injury, not the crowd.

Just because someone knows something doesn't mean they're able to post it on here.

Small shows have one ambulance and big shows havetwo
Ambulances cost around 300 to 500 I dont thik even for a big show they can charge ten times as much as for a small show.
If some of those figures are made up there are pretty good guesses on some of those fights

Those figures are none sense no chance were there a quarter of a million PPV buys.

The purses are correct (or most of them). The rest is twaddle. On big shows like that they would most probably had 3 ambulances (2 for boxing 1 for public) and they do charge a little more so no more than 2k.
