Us Boxin fans are long moaning about being ripped off by having to pay sky subscription, allegedly and ppv.

Would it not be cheaper to get the now TV option for sky sports and only pay for it when needed?

It's £6.99 for a day or £10.99 for a week. Although I understand this means not necessarily being able to see ringside. Ringside should be free to view in the same manner that bunce boxing hour is as it is hyping a show

If you're not into football, and other sports Sky pretends to care about then I would say that £6.99 a day isnt awful value.

I rarely catch Ringside anymore, it's not much of a show, more just an hour long commercial for Matchroom and Sky.

Nah they're making out like its because they're doing more online but really its been cut for Sky to pay for the football...........most good shows ending up pay per view + no weekly show. Boxing fans are really being treated well by Sky

It's a good idea yeah. Was thinking of doing that myself a while ago. Just keep my Virgin on the basic package and buy a day pass whenever boxing is on and hook the now TV up. Not got round to it yet but I think I will sometime during the summer.

If they're doing away with ringside then I see no reason why I wouldn't take this option. I also watch WWE, football and darts. However being a villa fan I my team don't get shown that oftne. And on occasion a day pass will get you the football and the boxing if you time it right

First I've heard that Ringside is being dropped from Sky but I haven't watched it for a week or so. I've enjoyed it over the years but it really has become a 'yes-man' programme since Matchroom taking all the dates.

can't disagree with that, still think its a shame Sky not having a weekly boxing magazine show. As someone who subscribes to sky sports for boxing, to lose ringside and have any half decent show looking to be pay per view I can't help think us boxing fans are paying for Sky's big football payout.

Although I agree it's a shame Sky are so obviously cutting down on regular boxing coverage, the fact that no-one on here has been talking about Ringside going shortly speaks volumes about its quality.

I decided to do this last December and worked it out as thus (Only works for me as I am not a football fan and can take it or leave the rest of the sports re live coverage).

Subscription 12 months at £25.50 per month = £306
24 shows per year x £6.99 = £167.75

So the minimum saving is £138.25 per year

But I realised that realistically I am only going to be really interested in about a dozen shows per year, interested enough to watch live (rest I can get free on Youtube the next day which is the same as when I skyplus them if out on Saturday night) so that means I am only spending £83,88 per year.

But it turns out the only show that interested me enough since the start of the year to buy was DeGale v Dirrell, the rest is a bunch of horseshit. Oh and we had the other card with Brook v Gavin which was ok, but that fukker was PPV anyway so outside of this whole equation.

I miss zero as Ringside and other shows are on youtube via various accounts within 24 hours

My personal saving is a about £200 - £250 I reckon.

It doesn't need selling. The lunatics will go anyway, and all of Leeds will watch.

Cheaper option, get an andriod box, any sport you want, ppv's,latest movies&boxsets for a one off payment..
i know it's wrong but sod sky with there rip off prices..

I meant wasn't mentioned on here (the sky keeping it quite bit was about ringside going).

Agree though most those who go won't know or care who hes fighting but I actually think the Brunker fight is a tough test for Warrington. Its more than likely this may derail the whole Warington/Selby fight.

I hope not though because I really wanna see Selby KO him in Leeds, nothing against Josh just can't stand those Leeds idiots.

A guy i know purchased a Raspberry Pi. 50 quid off ebay. Runs software called Kodi, connects to his router via ethernet cable and a hdmi to his tv. He says he can access almost anything on there, even runs a karaoke app hooked up to a vast online database.

I think the days of 'satellite' television are numbered.

I love allegedly. But disappointed in SKY. I am happy to pay for boxing but not football.

I'm not very tech savvy myself, a friend set it up for me. It's basically a box that plugs into your internet router and into your tv.

You can buy them pre loaded with "apps" such as Showbox and Genisis where you can watch all the latest movies and tv series. Theres other apps as well for streaming sports channels from across the world including sky sports and allegedly.

You can even stream PPV fights through it but the quality is only about as good as the streams you find on the net.

My girlfriend bought mine from her sisters ex but i've heard they're pretty easy to find on the net.

I'm on virgin media, never had a problem watching sky sports sports through mine. I've got allegedly and prefer to pay for PPV's and watch them in better quality.

I was with virgin and they are much better than sky but I moved and I couldn't get virgin there ,

I bought a Now TV box for that purpose last year, which is great for Fight Nights but there is no PPV/Box Office facility or the option to record on that format.
I ended up returning to my tried and tested method of watching on a sports streaming site.
