Looking to see what john o Donnell is now up to as I'd heard he was due to appear on an MBC card, I found he had signed with Steve Goodwin. Looking at Steves portfolio of fighters he actually manages 76 according to boxrec.

Looking further Steve wood manages a similar number, Michael helliett Over 50 fighters and over 50 for carl greaves too. Meanwhile Tommy Gilmour and Dave Coldwell manage about 20 a piece. And trainers who also manage like joe Gallagher and Garry lockett have about 7 each.

Now Steve wood, Goodwin and greaves all have good reputations. All their fighters or ex fighters speak highly of them and say they were cared for properly.

But can they really give the right attention to all fighters with that many on the books? How many fighters do you think a manager should manage? Do you think there should be a limit?

The likes of Goodwin and Helliot aren't in the gym with their fighters, so as long as they get their boys enough fights, they are doing a good job.
People like Lockett are trainers too and would not be able to give the same attention to their fighters if they had 50 odd.

I have a team that help me. Kevin Campion my Son Josh and daughter Olivia work with them also. We visit the gyms to see the boxers and have regular meetings and telephone contact with all of them. We can cope with double what we look after and still do a fantastic job for them. Its about spending money on a proper infrastructure for the boxers.

So in answer yes we give the right attention to all fighters.

For us our limit is much higher than we have for others what they have could be too many. Depends on as I say your infrastructure.

Of those promoters with 70+ boxers on their books, how many times a year do they box, and also how many fights are between 2 boxers from the same stable.

There is a good strategy of organising regular shows and matching your own boxers against each over - thereby receiving a fee from both boxers rather than just one - can be a lucrative business model.
