I've gone for on the train with the odd reservation, as i'm being positive and hopeful. Like many, until he takes a couple of solid hits i won't be trousers down and raving just yet.

haha, a classic hand me down from my ol pa. I added the trousers down bit, think it works well.

Haven't left the station especially with sky's ott marketing of him. Every hw wants to be the first to beat aj, he's a marked man!

surprises me how boxing fans still get carried away when a big powerful prospect comes along. just isnt worth making bold predictions until we see how the guy holds a shot

OP needs to add a 'Future People's Champ' option, that would be my vote.

I really want him to be a success. I think it would be great for UK boxing, heavyweight boxing and boxing in general if he was.

I think he has massive potential. I was hoping he'd sign with a top, experience heavyweight trainer; seemed like he was ideal for the late Emmanuel Steward. Whether Sims is the right guy for the job remains to be seen as he's a bit unproven at that level.

Let's see how it goes.

I completely agree about his trainer. I just don't see Sims as being the trainer of a world heavyweight champ. I think the narrative is inevitable that his defensive deficiencies will be exposed when he meets someone even reasonably ring-savvy and then the talk will be of how he needed a name trainer all along. As it will be with Tyson Fury.

He has reached fringe Euro level already, we are now just waiting for a Thompson fight!
The obvious questions is how he will fare in a fight when he can't blast them out early, the championship rounds in gruelling fights is what really defines you.

Balls deep was a classic option but I have the odd reservation. I'm quietly optimistic though. He seems a sensible enough guy and has a good team so fingers crossed. Would like to see the Wach fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there rumblings about Price's chin from his am days whereas Joshua was regarded as reasonably tough? Don't get me wrong I know it's completely different in the pros and Joshua still has a lot to prove but I'd be very surprised if he completely fell apart at the first real test like Price did.

Price had taken a number of counts in the ams and stopped a few times, and to my knowledge Joshua only took a count against Dillian Whyte as a novice.

He also took multiple counts against Mihai Nistor (stoppage loss) and one against Magomedrasul Medzhidov (points loss). He seemed to be fairly gritty and clearly didn't show the pronounced signs of vulnerability that Price did, but I wouldn't say that he looked particularly durable either.

At this point I'm on board with some reservations. He's clearly an offensive force and will be significantly bigger than most of his foes, but he hasn't faced one good offensive fighter and has shown very little as a pro about how takes a shot, deals with pressure, or copes if he can't bomb someone out quickly. He seems to be good enough offensively to stop most opponents without these becoming issues, but his opposition hasn't been good enough for me to already conclude that he'll be able to blitz contenders and champs in the same way.

Rob McCracken will be training Joshua as soon as Froch retires. I think Team GB only allow him to coach one pro
