Weekend Fights

Not a ton to watch.

Bellew and Martin Murray vs trashmen. Murray now fighting at 168.

Callum Smith makes a moderate step up vs Rebrasse but a fight he will surely win.

Leonard Bundu taking on a totally pointless fight vs the midget that Tony Harrison just annihilated.

Dominic Wade taking on Solimon's corpse. Wade can kiss his career goodbye if he loses to an old fart that looked beyond awful vs Taylor.

Oscar Valdez fights a bum. Fielding takes on Vera which could be interesting.

Gilberto Ramirez hopes to look better vs Edwards than he did vs Vlasov. He looked like crap in that fight but he will beat Edwards if he is worth half a damn.

Only fight of wkend that really means a hill of sh*t is Bradley - Vargas. Expecting Desert Storm to win a boring and rather ugly decision.

The Smith-Rebrasse and Fielding-Vera fights will be good but I'm not looking forward to Bradley-Vargas,I just can't get into Jessie, even his fight with DeMarco bored me,Timothy's not a big puncher but I fancy him to stop Vargas,Jessie never looked strong at 140

Bradley vs Vargas is the only fight with any real world level implications but it is likely to be a messy affair.
Bundu is being given an easy W so he can be fed to Spence later in the year.
Smith vs Rebrasse looks decent on paper, but I can see it being very one sided.
Fielding vs Vera could be a war, it all depends on how much ambition Vera shows
Ramirez should have too much for Edwards, but needs to look better than he did in his last fight

Great weekend for Aussie fights :

Sam Soliman in his first fight back since losing his world title (his only loss in the past 7 years) takes on the undefeated American Domenic Wade.

Undefeated Zac Dunn takes on the experienced Ukrainian Max Bursak for the vacabt IBO title.

Should be a good test for him. I hope his defence is up to it because he sure can dish it out.

How highly is this Zac Dunn rated? How do the Aussies think he'd fare against prospects like C.Smith and Rocky Fielding?

I have not seen anything in Callum Smith to suggest he beats Rebrasse easily. I have him a slight favorite but still with things to prove in this fight.

We see I think Smith is a level about Rebrasse. I think Smith ceilling is fringe world level I think Rebrasse can't go above euro level

You have him a slight favorite. The people that set lines for a living have him a -2150 favorite.

Bookies always overprice prospects. Probably I should shove a little something on Frenchman win though.

Equally we could go 2-0 or 1-1. Interesting fights both of them.

He's rated highly, but he hasn't fought anyone who would be considered a real threat.

I want to see Dunn Vs Kiyota!

You're not the only one.

Unfortunately, it won't happen for the OPBF title.

Only if Dunn wins the world strap. Kiyota's people are very risk averse --
just take a look at who he's defending against on July 7!

...take a look at all his OPBF title defenses, for that matter.

Heh Asianboxing.info ripped into the fight when they learned of the news a week before boxrec, though they seemed to suggest the blame was just as much on the contenders as the champion...

I tend to disagree. Kiyota's cherry-picked the weakest challengers possible, especially after getting blown out
by Jameson Bostic for the OPBF light heavyweight title. How on earth does a fighter who has gone 0-3-1 in
his last four bouts (Abhay Chand) qualify for a shot at the title?

Kajornsak could be the weakest of the bunch. According to Boxrec, his only wins (all seven) have come against
boxers making their pro debuts. He was also stopped in 2 rounds by Shintaro Matsumoto -- a fighter Kiyota has
already stopped twice.

Shouldn't the OPBF be enforcing mandatories though? So blame is on all sides?

They should and they haven't. Their complicity is most apparent at the higher weights, where the top contenders
tend to come from Australia, New Zealand, etc. Look at Akio Shibata -- all of his OPBF bouts have been against
boxers based in Japan.

Would I like to see Kiyota against Zac Dunn, Jake Carr, Trent Broadhurst, or Serge Yannick? Yes.
Are any of these fights likely to happen? No.

do you even watch the fights you blab about? soliman was beating taylor handily before wrenching his
knee and fought the rest of the way hopping around on one leg.
