Is it just me? Or does anyone else think IJL is absolutely hopeless. His arse went tonight. AGAIN!!!

Aye mate. I said on another thread that he was really timid again tonight. It's a thankless task he's got but in situations like that he should really be right in the middle splitting them.

Not sure what he needs to do to get dropped from reffing at the top. His indecision could have left vera with a broken jaw or worse.

The whole fight was a farce due to him

As I said on the other thread, he's an embarrassment to refereeing.

According to Ron Lewis on Twitter this evening, IJL was disciplined & fined by the Board earlier this month - anyone have any idea what that was all about?

its def time for him to step down a level, small hall non televised fights for 6 months, get his confidence back as its shot to pieces at the moment, he is struggling to make a decision in the ring. paul smith was spot on with the comments on tv.

He shouldn't be allowed to ref at that level again he has been bad for years now and looked totally out of his depth last night. I feel sorry for him as it's always hard to watch a man struggle and look incompetent the board need to do boxing and him a favour and remove him from the firing line as at best he looks look a incompetent fool and at worst it looks like not everything is on the level .

Ijl antics are becoming far more common in the past couple of years terrible decisions I agree with what was said about taking him off the tv put him back on small shows hes judging is bad too.

His indecision destroyed what should've been a good fight. How many times is he going to be allowed to do this? It's beyond a joke.

Ian has been a great referee over the years. He's having a bit of a bumpy run and may well benefit from a few months away from the front to give his head a break. He's far too valuable an asset to simply be allowed to burn out. Everyone needs a bit of r&r now and again.

It has already happened. When people know he is reffing, they are concerned about how it will end. The end of a fight has been down to him far too often. It not only costs the losing fighter but short changes fans and makes the sport look bad to casual punters.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and all that, I'm only commenting on the in-ring stuff.

I think you're on to something, rhino. Lewis was really sweating before the bout, he looked a little apprehensive.

this fight reminded me of Darren Barker vs Paul Samuels.

I seem to remember when i first started watching boxing in the early 80s that the ref used to shout ' stop boxing' and they would stop,nowadays they just try to jump in between them to stop the action,why don't they just shout stop,it's far quicker than trying to dive in between them and also safer for the boxer and the ref.Some,if not all refs used to say in the instructions that if he says stop boxing,he meant it and if you didn't he could disqualify them

...if you thought IJL was bad last night make sure you catch the Amnat Ruenroeng Vs Johnriel Casimero fight. That ref makes IJL seem like Steve Smoger.

I don't like the 'stop boxing'. It only takes some tit with a loud voice and ringside ticket to screw things up by trying to be funny.

True,but it used to work in days of Harry Gibbs,i thought it was one of the Queensbury rules,or was it just at the refs discretion ?,plus any ringsider would be very brave to try it,can't say i have ever seen a fight where that happened though.

That's not a bad idea. People talk about IJL performance more than the fighters these days.
