Just watched a very staged interview with Eddie Hearn on Sky Sports in which he says he might bid for Klitschko - Fury.

It was obviously a planned interview but be interesting to see if he actually does put a bid in.

It would be an absolute hammer blow to FW if Sky were to end up having that fight. It's one thing to lose the bid and have it on allegedly but to lose it to Sky would be a hard one to take.

I dont want to see a Sky monopoly, and without a doubt it would be PPV, but I do get the feeling Sky would build it into a mega event.

Whereas I dont think allegedly have the power to do that.

No, we have seen just how awful sky monopoly's were in the past.

I don't want anyone having a monopoly - it's very bad in the long run for the sport, as more often than not, too much of the talent ends up with one or other promoter, and often this results in poor quality matchups.

It does seem like just about every big fight now is PPV - it's ludicrous given that you have to have a sky subscription already.

I have seen the interview,it was about a number of things and this question came up and he said it`s possible they will bid but for me I don`t think they will and if they did I doubt they wouldn`t win.

Kugan did and interview with allegedly last week when allegedly stated him didn't know which TV channel the fight would be on. I thought that was an odd thing for him to say

At that stage Frank probably knew it was likely to go to purse bids, if he wins then it will be on allegedly, if he doesn't then there's no guarantee of that.

How much would be a good bid for the fight ?

If Eddie wanted it he could keep his gob shut, put in a bid while the competition doesn't expect him to, and see what comes of it. To me todays announcement is pure sxxt-stirring.

How anyone will match a bid to satisfy Wlads wages other than k2 would be the shock. Would need to be a hefty bulk

I don't know the intricacies of the Matchroom/Sky deal but I imagine putting this fight on PPV would generate £5m+ alone?

That is still a power struggle, it's just a power struggle that one party is currently winning. Just because Hearn may seem to be in the ascendancy at the moment, that doesn't mean this will be the case in 18 months. Things change.

So my point remains valid - the fact there has been an interview about it, means matchroom are making a statement of intent - and are potentially trying to ram home their advantage.

I do wonder whether this might not be a tactic to force Warren to bid more than is sensible and dent the profit margin.

This is a good news for Fury. This means K2 has to shell out or risk loosing to Matchroom, who unlike Warren has a reasonable chance of beating them.

I dont know if there is a bigger picture other then making money on this fight for Matchroom/Sky though. Unless Fury wins and they sigh him its only one fight, It wont damage FW too much.

Wazza has Bill Ives backing him, a lot richer than Hearn.

Interesting that the WBA has called for the purse bids seeing as Tyson Fury is not the WBA mandatory challenger???

The mandatory spot for their official challenger is currently vacant, and even if it wasnt it would be for Regular Word Title anyway, not the Super World Title... Only the Regular World Title holder gets to become WBA Super World Champion mandatory Like Povetkin!!!

I'd be absolutely gutted if Sky got the fight and turned it into another PPV, really hope that doesn't happen.

Meh, for there to be any kind of 'power struggle' there needs to be at least two horses in the race. There hasn't been for quite some time.

I'm not sure I agree - people write off Warren at their peril.

I can't see it being anything other than a K2 promotion. The fight between Matchroom & Bunny will just be over the TV rights that K2 will sell to this country.
