Multiple times? I thought he only had the one retirement.Crease wrote:sweetscience wrote:flights/hotel purchased for 12th Sept

We're talking about a guy here who left/returned to boxing multiple times over the past few years... He's anything but predictable.

Floyd slaps a dummy he pretends is Pacquaio (although i think hugging it would have made for more realism), Pac fires back that the video reminds him of what Floyd did to his ex wife.

Hugging and running sounds about right.Ricky_ wrote:ThereByTheGrace wrote:Or running away from it!Ricky_ wrote:Pacquaio 2016, already started hyping it:

All of the possible opponents have been training and preparing to the best of their abilities for MayweatherBadhusker wrote:Floyd is the top guy in the sport today, whether we like it or not. He calls all the shots about who, when, where, etc. We can either accept it or bitch about it, but it won't change until he retires.
If he announces his opponent within a week, it will give his opponent about 8 weeks to train, correct? How many boxers train more than that for a fight? If say there are even 10 potential opponents, it would be smart of them to get in the gym and get started if the announcement is later (than 2 months out) in case they do get the call. If they are caught cold and unprepared, it is their own fault.
Yup, if it wasn't for those advantages, Floyd would probably have about a .500 record.caldo2025 wrote:Here we are, almost 2 months away from Floyd's last fight on the Showtime contract and he still has not named an opponent. The delay in naming the opponent is not a result of negotiations, it's a planned strategy and posturing. Floyd wants to give his next opponent the least amount of time possible to prepare and though he mentioned Berto or Mayfield, my guess he's got his eyes on a different boxer who has no idea he's even in the sweepstakes. He wants to catch someone cold or out of shape and once again, give himself a significant advantage before he even wraps his hands on fight night.
Just another instance of dirty pool that Floyd has employed to be where he is today and another reason why he will never be considered the GOAT. No other boxer in the history of the sport has more of an advantage heading into a fight than Floyd has. When you get to dictate every single aspect of a fight, from the venue, the ref, boxing gloves,judges...etc, it's really hard to lose. This will be the 12th straight fight at MGM in his home town. Pathetic
Why? He's got some skill. He can run endless, for a dozen rounds.Badhusker wrote:Yup, if it wasn't for those advantages, Floyd would probably have about a .500 record.caldo2025 wrote:Here we are, almost 2 months away from Floyd's last fight on the Showtime contract and he still has not named an opponent. He retired after the Hatton fight... Then again after the Marquez fight... Then after the Ortiz fight... Each time he has mentioned taking time away from the sport.tiny_acres wrote:Multiple times? I thought he only had the one retirement.

As far as I know, Floyd only has had one official retirement. There is a difference between retiring and taking some time away from the sport. He did that occasionally imo to draw attention to himself.
After the Marquez fight in September of 09 he fought Mosley in May of 2010. After the Ortiz fight in September of 2011 he fought Cotto in May of 2012. His longest layoff was between Mosley and Ortiz.

Well I think that is a revisionist point of view. In reality if a boxer spend lengthy periods away from the sport then it's effectively as good as a retirement.tiny_acres wrote:that is the way I saw it too.
