SLOW, Boring Time in Boxing

There hasnt been anything worthwhile to watch in weeks and the upcoming couple months also suck balls. Is there even one fight on the horizon that matters?
You know it's a slow time when the best fight through July and August is....wait for it....BADOU JACK vs GEORGE GROVES on 8-22. I mean does anyone give a crap about Abraham-Stieglitz part FOUR? Thurman vs an overmatched fossil. Kovalev vs a mandatory scrub. Garcia fighting friggin Paulie. There is nothing. Someone please point me in the direction of a fight that matters a hill of sh*t before NFL season starts after Labor Day.

It's been slow the past few weekends, but now there's a few fights coming up that interest me:
Pianeta-Chagaev is an even matchup on July 11
Webster-Magomedov is a good matchup on July 17 and Teper-Price is also on that Friday.
Gonzalez-Frampton and Quigg-Martinez on July 18. Both are pretty good matchups.
The Kovalev-Mohammedi card is decent with four light heavyweight matchups - I nearly decided to go to Vegas to see it.
Khytrov-Brinson is on Showtime August 7.
Perez-Mikhaylenko is on August 8.
And then there's Groves-Jack on August 22.

That is a very good night for the uk scene... a stacked card and knowing how much diddy likes uk boxing I'm surprised he overlooked this quality night...

It would be nice if the top guys fought each other. After all the hype of Floyd 's Pac it left everyone hungry for a good battle. All expected or at least hoped it would have more competitive.
Then we have Khan, Brook, Wilder, GGG, Ward, and now Thurman taking fights that don't excite.
Guess we have to wait til fall, and enjoy the summer...maybe work on the honey-do list.

Terry Flanagan (unbeaten UK lightweight) vs Jose Zepeda (Mexican kiddie, Mayweather's sparring partner, never made lightweight in his puff as far as I can tell) for the WBO strap is one worth watching, imo. Two unbeatens, reasonably unproven, both young. Great little fight that.
& down at light-fly, Donnie Nietes vs Francisco Rodriguez is gonna be worth a watch.
PBC's fights are desperately uninspiring, though, & is further illustrates Haymon's poor matchmaking nous imo.
& I wouldn't cross the fornicating street to watch the heavyweight card, Chagaev (FFS. Doesn't he have hepatitis?) vs Pianeta (FFS. Didn't he have cancer?) is a fornicate-awful fight, no matter what plastic title's attached.

I dont get why people saying its slow
I think Zepeda-Flaningan & Herrera-Lundy, Nietes-Rodriguez are good competive fights
There just a lot B level 50/50 fights
Quigg-Martinez there's others.
If ur looking for big names against nobodies then yeah its slow if ur into that

...only slow if you're only interested in certain divisions and scenes...last weekend had Guevara Vs Lopez and Parenas Vs Carmona, this coming weekend has Nietes Vs Rodriguez 3 really good, well matches bout at 108-115 (and we've also had Takuma Inoue fight this week in that same weight grouping).
Last week we saw Knockout CP Freshmart put in his best performance so far.
The 18th is a great day (Quigg Vs Martinez, Crolla Vs Perez, Yang Vs Cuenca, Villanueva Vs Arroyo)

Yeah sorry I don't care about these fights you guys are mentioning. They have no real impact at world level.

You meant to say they have no impact on the HBO, showtime, PBC level because if its not on those platform it doesn't matter

So in the space of a week or so we've had 3 of the best guys at 108lbs and an eliminator to face the best guy at 115lbs and that doesn't constitute world level?
No point in mentioning Hernandez Vs Ramirez in coming weeks as well.
Not sure what you consider "world level", but...tops guys in a division fighting is, by my definition at least, world level...and that's with out even stating the many of the best fights and most exciting and competitive take place a long way from the supposedly elite level. One of the best televised fights last year was a crazy war in Thailand, a few years before that was a PABA title fight in South Korea that was nothing short of exhilarating, Yordan Vs Villanueva was a sensational B grade bout...

Yoan Pablo Hernandez vs Victor Emilio Ramirez on July 25 can be a really good fight. Ramirez hardly ever was in boring fight and his fight against Deon Elam was just amazing. Video here -

REALLY high hopes for this...could be a FOTY contender...or an early blow out...either way I'll be tuning in to it

Ramirez Vs Afolabi was really good earlier this year

Actually. Quite the contrary. In fact most I know seek me out for my boxing opinion. And my opinion is this is a very crap time on the boxing calendar. The summer is not typically this horrendous.

Boy, you said it. July and August are piss poor for fights. Well, at least we have Floyd fighting on Sept 12th. I heard he's going to name his opponent by then so that should be exciting. Joke.
The only one that will be DVR'd if that's a word, is the Kovalev fight. I'd watch him fight anyone, even my grandfather.
I guess this is the kind of schedule we can get used to with the cold war going on. PBC stands for Pathetic Bouts Consistently.

Apparently I'm a "complete idiot" for not being enthused by the domestic drek that is populating the schedule.

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Nobody nationally gives a crap about domestic fighters like Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg. Frampton is a very nice fighter but him fighting as a -4500 favorite against a journeyman isnt going to excite a soul outside of his hometown folk. Waste of time fight. No one in the States cares. No one outside of UK cares. People nationally will care when Frampton fights Santa Cruz or Rigondeaux or Mares or Russell or Lomo or even Donaire.
How can anyone look at the current schedule and be enthused by anything on it? Thurman vs Collazo. Garcia vs Paulie. Complete and utter wastes of time. Kovalev as a -10000 favorite. AA-Stieglitz FOUR to see who the 10th best super middleweight in the world is....super exciting stuff.
If you cant tell I'm super disenchanted by the road this sport has been on for a while now and there's no end in sight to this sorry road.
I cant believe there are people that are actually trying to argue with me that I should care about this June-July-August slate of GARBAGE.
