He is getting loads of shit here in his home town, people saying that he is a hype job ..... I don't know if these people realize the lack of actually quality opponents available nevermind in Argentina, none domestically really

What I will say is he needs to fight abroad and soon to get a flavour for it, he travels well in Argentina so I think he has this string to his bow ...

He cannot be too far from a title shot in 2016 but I fear that the title shot will be the title shot plus a big step up at the same time if you know what I mean...... there is a massive gulf in that huge testing tough fight just below world class level he needs and the real deal, Vic Darchinyan would be one maybe

Anyways I think he has the tools to be a world champion, he never lets the fans down and is always exciting, he has good recovery skills as we have seen and has genuine power..........

it is unfortunate they can't attract some "names" or simply good opposition with paydays so he can gain momentum with his career...

I agree, I am quit exited though if his wiki page is anything to go by, it says he is scheduled to fight in Miami in October against TBA opponent, this should kick start things maybe

Read this in an Argentinian boxing magazine, I loosly translated it for us, forgive me if there are any inaccuracies.

"After laying waste to whatever guy they put in front of him at both national and inter-continental levels, Matias Carlos Adrián Rueda, takes his devastating fists to Miami, USA.
According to his manager Mario Margossian the Tandilese, 23-0 with 20 KOs will fight for the first time outside his native Argentina on October 2.
Right now, La Cobrita is the WBO Argentinian and Latin American featherweight champion.
Rueda is ranked 5th with Vasyl Lomachenko top of the WBO rankings after just 4 fights, he did however put pay to Gary Russell Jr and has a glittering amature career.
Rueada needs to be his usual exciting self, win impressivly and break into the US scene that offers much more coin that fighting in the school sports halls of Argentina.
Besides the big pay days, La Cobrita has all the characteristics that US fight fans love.
He is heavy handed, aggressive, fearless and puts kids to sleep.
Indeed he has all the attributes of a major billboard star in the making, hopefully we see this in October."

He is going to be fighting a Mexican, I expect it not to be too dangerous a fight, who could it be?

Cannot be the following, in my opinion

Castellanos
Mares
Santa Cruz
Gutierre, too recently fought, too dangerous
Koasicha 7th Nov fighting Lomachenko
Montiel fighting Selby this weekend

Maybe?

Arturo Santos Reyes, would love to see this, good litmus test
Cristian Mijares, good test also

Couldn't go lower opposition than these surely?

Fernando Vargas, should be a nice exhibition bout
Carlos Carlson, should be a nice exhibition bout
Jairo Hernandez, should be a nice exhibition bout

Yeah, I was hoping for a sterner test but well, it is what it is, the test now is whether can he travel I guess, obviously taking care of business in the process, Macias seems on a similar par to the guys he has been putting away here in Argentina with relative ease. I have seen him dropped a couple of times but his recoveries were special, (dare I say a little like Fury), if he masters this trip and subsequent away fights he really has a good chance of getting a world title shot and converting the chance ..... don't know where to watch this yet on TV, they are trying to put it on TYC for us.

My god .... 3000 posts, congrats me!

I want Rueda to be a world champion just so those eyebrows get more exposure.

Announced today that his trainer has quit and doesn't want to continue working with him, wants to get back to 100% amature bouts, strange, trying to find out what has happened behind the scenes, surely cannot be that the trainer on the brink of a world title shot would walk away, new trainer. better trainer perhaps? He certainly needs to work on his almost non existant defence!

If he needs defence then Virgil Hunter is the man.
