If mayweather had a choice of Brook or Berto as a opponent which fight would sell the most PPVS in the USA.

Be especially interested in american opinions.

Is Berto still the biggest name stateside?

I meant would he be a bigger name stateside than brook.

Brook isn't known well in America but his unquestionable talent would surely get PPV buys

But would it be more than Berti who isn't as skilful fighter but more well known.

Berto isn't that well known in America. It's not like the average joe knows who he is.

So would you say the Brook fight does better numbers in the US?

To be fair, the average joe doesn't know of anyone except Floyd, Manny, that big Russian guy (Wlad) and maybe the freckled Mexican (Canelo).

Yes because word of mouth will be that it could be competitive unlike Berto who everyone knows doesn't have a chance and the public has seen being beaten up more than winning.

Honestly, Brook is no less unknown to the American public than Guerrero or Ortiz was who live here.

Did his win over Porter get a lot of coverage over there?

I would like to see Brook get the fight over Berto, but I don't think it would make a huge difference in sales either way.
Berto was more recognizable to American fans a few years back, but I'm not so sure about that now. Of course Brook is the more credible opponent as he's got a belt and the big win over Porter. Maybe the media coverage would sell a fight with Brook a little better to the public just because he would be lauded as a good choice, while there will be inevitable criticism if Berto ends up getting the opportunity.

Brook would bring 500k of Uk buys to the table....just the same as Amir. Berto can't compete with them numbers..

It sounds like the PPV angle is probably a moot point if it is on regular TV. If it was though, as far as buys in the US Berto is much more known, being a champ for 2 years and spending most of his career if not all fighting here. Brook has one or two fights in the US. World-wide though I would say Brook would bring most PPV's due to his big following outside the states. Berto has by far the better resume imo, but then again he isn't unbeaten and a belt holder.

I think they both do about the same.

Berto has more of a name here and he is coming off that KO of Lopez that did very good ratings wise.
Brook has that record and the same hype machine that will undoubtedly be used for Berto would probably work even better for Kell.

A draw ratings wise.

Berto is an irrelevant bum. I'm still pretty sure he's simply being used as leverage, like Devon Alexander was (funnily enough Devon would be a more respectable opponent). Although it could just be that following Floyd's poor performances/clinch-fests vs Maidana & Pacquiao he knows he has nothing more to give and would rather finish up on a glorified spar than stick around like Hopkins.

I suppose Floyd could fight someone like.......Brandon Rios. :OhYes:

Brook would sell better. Brook has 5 or 10 times better chance of beating Mayweather than Berto does, and that would factor into the amount of buys. Mayweather hasn't fought someone as poorly ranked as Berto since the Henry Bruseles fight. A fight against Berto would be like his worst-selling fight in quite a while, I think.

All the talk around seems to indicate Berto will be the opponent.

The key word is "talk". Hopefully Floyd will tell us soon.

He wont fight Brook because Brook is a tough fight. And Brook is a big guy who generates not nearly enough $ worldwide. Only Brits care about him. The risk/reward isnt nearly high enough for Floyd to fight him. He would fight Thurman or Khan or Garcia or Bradley before even considering Brook.

I think even alot of boxing fans think Berto is American when he's Haitian. I can't imagine casuals even know Berto... maybe a couple might have seen him in a 24/7 highlight reel gettin his ass kicked by Guerrero and Ortiz in their Floyd build ups.

Floyd vs Berto isn't a serious contest, its just an exhibition. I'd imagine CBS are happy enough with the Pac jackpot to stick this on free tv and collect what will be rather substantial advertising revenues with viewing figures in the multimillions.
