Controversial Scoring Decisions Thread

I am starting a thread of controversial decisions. Only controversial fights that ended that you thought, that the guy who lost, really won.
I am going to start with Muhammad Ali vs Ken Norton II. I believe that Norton won that fight. I believe that Norton won all three. Post your scores and let's watch the fight again.

I scored the second fight 7-4-1 for Ali. I'm pretty sure I scored the first fight 7-5 for Norton when I watched it in the 80's. I had the 3rd fight 7-6-2 for Norton, but once again I thought Ali dominated whenever he got off the ropes.

I am going to see my scorecards of that fight. Fight #2 was the most entertaining, to me, of the Ali vs Norton trilogy

Lot of Baloney being pedaled on these fights. Norton won the first one, Ali the second, and Joe Frazier thought the third fight was won by Ken Norton....by one round.
They fought to a stalemate overall.

Joe's specialty was a left hook and aggression. He wasn't really into that judging thing. Besides, he probably just wanted another piece of Ali.
Norton clearly won the 3rd fight over a diminished Ali. 9-6 or thereabouts.
But hey, Ali as champ was good for the sport.

Whoa...you sayin' smokin' Joe was good lookin' in the ring, but not so smart? Who are you to judge?
Anyway, Norton and Ali fought to an overall inconclusive outcome based on styles. (And the training/consult Genius of Eddie Futch.
Ali and Frazier.....far more conclusive of an outcome. And Frazier ended up his career in pretty good shape, due once again to the genius/consult (and kindheartedness) Of Eddie.
If Eddie would have fed Joe to Ali in that last round.....Joe wouldn't have even had enough to come back and fight Jumbo to a draw.

I'll go with that, Buzzy.
And Norton won the third fight with Ali.

Nigel Benn -v- Thulane Malinga 1 - Malinga was robbed big time.
Henry Wharton -v- Fidel Castro Smith - One of the biggest robberies I've ever seen. Smith boxed Wharton out of Yorkshire & I bet Henry would acknowledge that too.

Pick the stinking/rotten Markus Beyer title defence in Germany of your choice....thankfully Glenn Catley and the excellent Mikkel Kessler found an alternative route which was to make the judges redundant. Kessler always had my respect for finshing off Beyer.
Beyer's various reigns by and large stank....even the basic Bika beat him all ends up (predicatbly given a draw) before Kessler did us all a huge favour and put him out of business.

Did Ali sell you the DCON?
Looks like "the Greatest" could have chosen a higher brow product to have pushed.

It wasn't a major robbery though I thought the recent Perez v Crolla bout should have gone to Crolla; I thought he'd done enough.

1954: Kid Gavilan vs Johnny Saxton.
Gavilan lost welterweight title to Saxton by UD. 20 of 22 reporters at ringside thought that Gavilan deserved the decision. Saxton was alleged to be mob controlled, so maybe the fix was in.
Ring Magazine's Nat Fleisher said that the referee was biased against Gavilan, warning him against holding frequently even though the holding was mostly Saxton's fault.
Kid Gavilan never got another shot at the title after that.

The Panamanian Scorpion, was at his best in the rounds down the stretch. Extraordinary Concentration and poise. A complete fighter, that could also fight very well on the inside, regarding his height. A great master was that grew Eusebio Pedroza

I'd like to hear what others think about who deserved the win in the first Pedroza vs Lockridge bout. Elmer and two of the judges thought Pedroza won, while myself, along with one of the judges and Gil Clancy and Tim Ryan thought Lockridge served the W. Let's hear your opinion on who you think won.
