So after a devastating KO loss fighting for the vacant European title... Where does he go from here? And what is his current ranking is the Heavyweight division?

For me, I'm not sure where goes from here... In my estimation he'll never be a headliner again, unless he beats someone in the top 10... He probably would help sellout a few shows in Liverpool, but he needs to be very careful that he doesn't become a long-standing joke in the division (the way that Audley Harrison was for years).

Undoubtedly he's going to have to take a back seat while Joshua rises up the rankings & Fury gets his dream shot against Wladimir. So it puts him at the back of the room, but even at that, if he stays busy and clocks up a few more KOs against lower class fighters, he could make himself a few quid... And maybe get that British title back in 2/3 years, after AJ has moved on up.

Just off the top of my head, maybe Pricey could try and grab a fight against Chisora? There's a fight that we haven't seen yet.

The resilience is just not there and it can't be made in the gym. Whenever he gets an hard crack head going down and its a long way down. He looked gutted last night but was not decisive or confidant in the fight. A boxer is going to get whacked no matter how tall he is, how long his arms are or how hard he can punch. It is a shame because he seems a really decent and level headed bloke but he can dish it out but he can't take it. They couldn't pay me enough if I were a boxer who kept getting caught like that, Price looked so embarrassed.

I don't think it would sell either I'd be shocked if it went past 2 RDS , prices stock was really low after the 2nd Thompson fight but now it's rock bottom ,there's been lots of fighters that have lost 3 times and gone on and done well but the way price has KO'd has ruined him and his confidence.

Agreed. And has been highlighted earlier, he looked nervous and insecure.... After I watched knockout I had to ask myself what sort of sparring he's been getting... Surely they could get a partner in there to spar him at a high-tempo who would swarm & pressure him.

Pricey really needs that sort've sparring, because he MUST learn to be more composed and confident in the ring. If he doesn't, he will repeatedly keep getting exposed over the next few years (even though I think he will win a lot more fights, especially if he sticks with a lower level at I already mentioned) and he won't improve to make that crucial step up to the next level.

I've said this about Audley before, but I wonder if it's now relevant to David Price:

But if we disregard those sort've insane claims for a moment, and look at it realistically - Audley could still have a tidy little earner for himself if he keeps himself in good shape. Audley still has decent boxing skill and he does carry a good bit of power (when he commits to his shots) so he could still be in the World rankings around 70-100ish.

As long as he doesn't see himself as the big deal anymore and he's willing to be more realistic with his expectations, there's no reason why he couldn't be a British Champion again (after Price, Fury & Joshua) move their sights up to World level.

Maybe he could get the English Heavyweight title and hold on to that for a while. Or maybe score some obscure belt like the European Union Heavyweight Title, and beat up a load of journeymen fighters.

If I were his Manager, I would tell him to look at:
Anthony Joshua recently winning the WBC International Title (by beating Denis Bakhtov)
Also, Andy Ruiz Jr who has been defending his WBO Intercotinental Title.

These titles may be virtually meaningless and have no lineage whatsoever, but for slightly-better-than-run-of-the-mill guys like Audley they can be valuable trinkets that they can make their own and would add a bit of prestige for his fights and he can say stuff like: "I'm defending my title" etc...

This would also help Audley with becoming regular mid-card filler around the British boxing scene, he wouldn't even have to leave the country. It could be a handy wee earner for him.

Basically what I'm saying is - as long as Audley stays away from the mainstream boxing titles, he could forge out a moderately successful career for himself.

He can dominate at British level, when Joshua and Fury aren't looking for that title. Pick up an EBU fight or 2. Maybe avoid a top contender enough to get a title shot and cash in. But time isn't on his side. He's not a novice in early 20s who an afford to keep losing. He could be a gatekeeper to check out the new talent, find out the guys who aren't up to it. As a heavyweight he could earn a lot of money like that. But does he want to be an eternal lower level, domestic fighter?

Not only that, he's not losing by close decision - he's getting clocked and knocked clean out. Does he really want to lose in that fashion? His confidence looked shot before his last bout and will surely be worse before his next. If boxing iis such a horridly stressful endeavour that ends in concussion then it's surely much easier to walk away.

What for? Is the money that good? I'd have thought he's earned enough to buy his home etc and he's got a decent job, he's got just about everything to succeed in boxing but the chin and he just cannot train a weak chin iinto an iron one.

To have one last crack at it so as when he looks back there's no regrets and i'm sure filling out the echo arena one last time won't hurt his future plans financially either.

He can go back to fitting kitchens whenever he chooses,but boxing on for one last big payday is a decision he must make very soon.

I'm not stating anything daft here i know as well as everyone else he has no chance against the top 5 in the world but theres still good money to be made outside of that if you are a ticket seller and a heavyweight.

That's the type of level he can do well at. If he's going to continue and wants to win rather than just being fodder, he should be fighting opponents like that.

He will be fifty before Towers and Lewison get round to fighting both are finished prospects although lewison could have been more. Price is finished at the top level but he can pick up a bit more cash fighting prospects if he can be bothered or needs the money.

I'd say he has heart, otherwise he'd not have insisted on an immediate Thompson rematch. He also didn't retire after back to back losses. Agree he has a weak mind & poor stamina once in the ring though, and his jab is frustratingly pathetic.

He lacks fighting heart. He wilted and quit in the 2nd Thompson fight.

We can say that everyone who steps in the ring has heart etc., but when talking about heart it has to be relative and compared to most fighters at his level he has a clear lack of heart.

I don't think that he should quit, but he should greatly lower his expectations and try to rebuild at lower domestic level with another trainer and a sports psychologist.

I agree with all of the above but I would still tune in to watch his next fight( if he has one).
