I dont get it. when you made 300 million $ in your last fight, than you do a free fight against c level boxer?

what is this about? is this an apology for 4 million fans + who paid a lot of money to see mayweather run and do not much for whole 12 rounds, resulting in a very boring fight?

why is berto even a consideration, he is 20 on boxrec and lost 3 out of his last 6 fights, i mean, i just gont get it, whats the point?

I guess he figures Berto will give him more of a test than Pacquiao did? The point is, you just gont get it. :OhYes:

Seriously, it's his last fight, he soon will be 39 yrs old while Berto is still prime age. (And black, which some accuse Floyd of avoiding prime age black guys) AND, it will be free. Do you actually think Floyd would fight Berto if he was trying to sell a big PPV fight? Berto claims he has turned things around now with Hunter. My guess is he actually has to train seriously now since he can't rely on roids. Him and Floyd also dislike each other, which may add to what little hype this fight gets.

Ricky you nailed it. This is a freaking test.To see if a percentage of advertisement money
will be as good as ppv revenue for elite fighters.
We might be seeing the death of PPV if this is big.

if they get like superbowl type of commercials, where 1 second cost like 1 million dollar hahaha....but that would suck for boxing, if n between rounds you wouldnt hear the corner, but a 1 minute commercial

There's many prime black welters NOT named Andre Berto. Why not Thurman? Porter? Or even Broner who would make an intriguing promotion? Even though Brook is British, it's obvious he has some black in him so why not him? Berto is worse than Alexander so why Berto?

why do you bother answering badhusker's crap?

his post made absolutly no sense.

he said, floyd thinks that berto would give him a bigger test than pacquiao  , yeah cause berto is so much better than pac

he said, floyd wants to fight a black guy, because he has been critizised to not boxing enough black boxers. so, why than not box a top 10 welterweight like bradley, brook or porter...why a top 20 rated guy like berto

and than he said berto and floyd dislike each other and may ad hype to it....god, like any opponents did like each other.....hahhahahaha

Maybe Floyd intends to keep his right arm behind his back ? Then Berto is about the right level of opposition to make it challenging.

The commercial cost is based upon viewing figures ofcourse. If Mayweather/Pac can draw 5m viewers who pay a $100 ppv i guess they are thinking if Floyd is on free they will do tens of millions of viewers; meaning Floyd gets his $30m+ gaurantee for facing Berto ( ) and CBS pocket the rest, which fufills Floyd's contract, making him a free agent for Pacquiao rematch in 2016.

Considering Pacquiao claimed he was only 60% vs Floyd, yeah it should be a good fight if you consider a 60% Pac equal to a 100% Berto.
Then again, Pac also said he was sabotaged because he couldn't get his vitamins and water in his dressing room, they refused to give him a shot in his shoulder, and that Floyd was pulling on his "hurt" arm during the fight. He didn't want to make excuses for the loss though....

I imagine Showtime/CBS told Floyd if he fights Pacquiao, he can fight anyone he wants for his last fight. It will be free - quit bitching or how about just not watch?

A 60% Pac still can beat Ortiz, Guerrero and surely Karrass

So whats going on, is this pathetic fight really happening? If it is, then I have to say this would be the first Mayweather fight since 2010 that I wont watch live. :)

What a pathetic mismatch. :(

It's bizarre, I always thought the Grande Idée was to build Berto to fight him (I kinda presumed Andre's whole career was set up for it). Then he lost to Ortiz. & then to Guerrero. & then to Soto-Karass.

& got busted for roids. & then looked like shite until knocking out (HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA) Josesito.

So, eminently qualified, then. Point is, every time Berto got in a decent fight, he lost, & the guy who beat him ended up fighting Floyd off the back of beating Berto. That was literally the excuse for Ortiz, for Guerrero, that they "beat Berto & therefore "deserve" a shot". I see Money's team couldn't quite stoop to fighting Soto-Karass, so they brought in Maidana instead (off the back of... Wait, was it losing to Devon Alexander or upsetting Broner? Which one of those was it?).

I bet Berto's pissed off he took all those arse-kickings for nothing, if he'd've just sat on his hands for four years it seems he'd've got his turn anyway. Though Floyd would've had to find two/three years' worth of mediocrities to fight in the interim.

Is Floyd vs Berto that bad in comparison to Pacqiao fighting light welters like Rios and Algieri? At least Berto is a career welter. I am not thrilled with the choice either but Floyd did say he wanted an easier but entertaining fight for his last.

Is that so hard to understand? Boycott Floyd!

Both Rios and Algieri are no smaller than Berto.

Yep it is a bad comparison.

Rios: Pacquiao was coming off a loss vs Rios. If Floyd was coming off a loss, Berto would make sense but he's coming off one of the biggest wins of his career.

Algeri: Algeri was undefeated and arguably beat Khan who many don't have any problem fighting Floyd. He also beat Ruslan.

Husker sounds like a shonky used car salesman and Berto is the bomb he is trying to make sound brand new, this also makes all the fanatic floyd fans look stupid, they all say this fighter, that fighter hasn't earnt a shot at floyd, and here he is fighting Berto, you can't talk this up in any way, shape or form

finaly someone makes sense.

100 % correct, berto against floyd is a sparring session. 12 rounds of running and berto being technicly outclassed and low punch output from floyd, like always and fans falling to sleep in the first half of the fight

The fact is that they had been fighting at 140, and had to move up to get the fight with Pac. I don't give a shit what weight they walk around at. Rios was having trouble making 135 so moved up. Yes, Algieri was taller than Manny...but was a 140 pounder that got a gift imo vs the one dimensional Provo. CA has no amateur experience either. Horrible fight, but its ok since it was Manny. Debate is good as long as it is based on the facts.

If major boxing events went to regular tv instead of ppv having to put up with a 1 minute commercial wouldn't suck at all! Some people are never happy.

This could be great for the sport and I hope it does great ratings just to see if it will work.
