Solo Haumono will finally break the drought this Friday when he takes on a modestly credentialed Kiwi by the name of Filipo Fonoti Masoe, in Orange NSW.
Haumono is only a few months short of 40 now and has just seen another couple of prime fighting years go by.

Rumours he could be offered a fight with Joseph Parker in Brisbane on the undercard to Jeff Horn's homecoming fight (possibly October). Duco will probably have to spend money to get Horn a quality opponent to come to Aus, so could want a cheap one for Parker

Interesting prospect. But not sure what benefit it would be to Parker fighting Solo?

Haumono was the last holder of the OPBF belt when he beat Fujimoto, so if Parker gets that it helps with his WBC ranking.
Also a lot of casual boxing fans know Haumono in Aus, so it could help raise Parkers profile and get more Aussie fans

In his upcoming bout with Bowie Tupou Parker is fighting for the vacant OPBF belt. Amongst others.
Solo hasn't fought for a couple of years and isn't particularly relative at this stage. Particularly to Parker who is going places.

Parkers fights are set for the year and don't include solo. Tupou August, then opponents I'm not at liberty to mention for Oct. And Dec.

Thanks cheeko.
Can you discount Leapai and Meehan as well?

The Hoamono kid never had the mentality to go far in boxing. Did well on the Australian scene but look who he was actually fighting.

So Leapai or Meehan possible, perhaps likely, for October or December
I'll take a punt on it being Meehan.

Kevin Johnson was announced as the new OPBF champ after beating Solo, but maybe he wasn't actually eligible to win it?

I didn't think we were ever break you down there. Talk about staunch. Then two post later confirms Meehan and October

According to BoxRec the next winner of the OPBF title after Haumono in 2012, was Parker in 2015. So it must have become vacant at some point in between.

BoxRec lists Parker's October 15th fight as being against TBA (perhaps Meehan in light of the posts above), in Auckland.

I've seen that, just speculating because this Courier Mail article says
"Provided Horn comes through unscathed he will face another world-rated opponent in Brisbane in October in the biggest fight the city has seen since American heavyweight Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson beat Alex Leapai at Doomben in 2012."
http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/box ... 7397678990
Also Dean Lonergan was on radio sport a couple of weeks ago saying Duco had "something big happening in Brisbane"

Kevin Johnson might've been announced the new OPBF champ, but was never recognized as such. Title was declared vacant 'cos Haumono lost

Read the article. Yet Boxrec currently have Jeff Horn's scheduled October bout - after he fights Viktor Plotnykov - listed on the same Auckland card as Parker vs TBA, and what might turn out to be Parker vs Meehan.
Still some i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed by the look of things.
