George Groves will have to wait a bit longer to challenge WBC super middleweight Badou Jack. The Londoner was to have fought Jack in Las Vegas on August 22 but it now looks like the fight will happen on the September 12 Floyd Mayweather Jr undercard.

Out of interest, has anybody on here booked or know anybody who had booked in to travel for this fight already? Ultimately I think Groves should be thrilled to be fighting on a terrestrial TV card like this which will attract a huge audience Stateside.

Good news for Groves. Hopefully he can pull of the win in impressive fashion and make a name for himself stateside.

I would have thought so, but that KO is coming. Groves has looked vulnerable and prone to slugging it out in his last couple of fights.

froch was looking for big fights after he beat groves the second time. eddie couldn't deliver anything...no chavez, no golovkin, no ward etc etc froch always said he wanted to fight in vegas, didn't happen. instead the months kept on ticking by and in the end froch tired of it all and hung his gloves up. now the man he beat - groves - is fighting in vegas on a huge card getting huge exposure.

i would think groves is pretty happy, froch not so much. he's a guy with a huge chip on his shoulder anyway...

80,000 at Wembley, Groves can trot out watched by 80 million (or whatever) on TV live from Vegas. Groves edges ahead in the bragging stakes with this and that's got to hurt Carl's big ego a bit.

If we're banging out significant numbers that start with 8 then I think the 8 million quid that Froch earned for the Wembley fight will calm any jealousy he may have of Groves getting a Vegas fight on an undercard.

Highly unlikely it bothers Froch in the slightest. Froch made his mind up about retirement a long time ago, he just saw Chavez as a money fight, an easy one at that. He was proved correct when Chavez got chinned...

The main one has to be that Mayweather vs Berto is not on PPV, because that is going to tank.

The second is that if it is on freeview, that it's not so early in the night that it becomes a highlight clip in an empty arena.

I don't think you could blame Hearn there to be fair. The Ward or GGG fights could've been made I reckon, Froch just lost his appetite. Froch has retired at the top on his own terms after a decisive KO over Groves so I doubt Groves will ever edge ahead on the bragging stakes.

Yeah agree. Because it's Mayweather you will have a hell of a lot of casual fans only interested in the 'main event'. Absolute shambles of a fight. I still can't quite get my head round it.

it's not the best in pedigree terms but i bet it's a better fight than mayweather v pacquiao

froch doesnt strike me as a man who obsessesses over money. if he was he would have taken a much easier route in his career. froch is all about proving himself, and he never fought in vegas..the fight capital of the world.

Froch had all sorts of Vegas offers since 2004.

But they've all been mediocre / undercard style affairs. Remember, numerous Hennessy fighters have fought on GBP shows, even De La Hoya vs Mayweather.

Carl boxed in L.A on a golden boy show in 2005.

'Boxing in Vegas' is one thing, having a HBO main event in Vegas is something completely difference.

So no, why would Carl be jealous of fighting a swede in front of 10,000 empty seats in the MGM?

if the mayweather fight is on free tv the numbers will be huge, they will dwarf PPV numbers. mgm will be sold out too.
