Thurman's greatest asset besides his talent is that he has a VERY sharp mindset. He analyzes situations extremely well and is very grounded.
He's smart just like Mayweather. Tell me who else in that divsion has a sharper mind than Thurman? I'm talking about everyone outside of Floyd
Mayweather! Watch his pre fight interview he did with Atlas during the Collazo telecast and you will understand he's a TRUE DEEP THINKER.
2yrs from now don't say I didn't warn you! He comes off as the type of guy like Floyd....that if he signs to fight you he's already won the fight
mentally...he weighs his pros and cons before committing to any fight Thurman will be King. He's just too smart.

I admit I am very high on Thurman too......but - he is still young, and has shown vulnerability at times. His power is real, but his over-all game needs polish. I think someone like Khan would outpoint him unless Thurman KO's him, which is a very likely scenario. A slick boxer with a good chin beats Thurman all day, imo.
His ego seems to eclipse his skills at this point, but look forward to seeing him vs the best at his weight.

I like Thurman as well.
But both Bradley and Maidana are only 31, and both have been in with and equitted themselves well against tougher more elite guys than Keith.
Then there is Kell Brook and Khan.
Keith needs to beat 2 or 3 of these guys before we can crown him.

Man from what I have seen...Mayweather, Ward, & Thurman are the smartest fighters to date, in all of boxing right now. Cotto just recently
started getting smart like a diva to where benefits himself. Yeah Thurman......I'm telling you he's right along with Mayweather and Ward ANY
fight he signs he's already won plain and simple and this will carry him a long way. Many years to come he's just too intelligent when it comes to the
business side of negotiations. 2yrs from now Thurman will become a full blown diva mark my words any fight he's involved in he will exploit the
fighter's weakness waaaay before hand, if the guy's too dangerous it's simple! Let another young unproven hungry buck knock him off
That's why I keep saying that Thurman reminds me of Floyd and Ward. ALL 3 carefully analyze opponents. ALL the PROS & CONS of getting
involved!!! That's why I say when the time is right Ward will whip Kovalev ONCE the situation HEAVILY favors himself. Thurman is the same way.
He's not fooling me one bit I see a future diva.

He definitely has the potential to be a good @ 147 I like Keith a lot ... ok he has flaws but he's still learning ... However there have been other potential candidates that have not quite made the grade as the next MW...porter and Alexander spring to mind. .. He has a very good boxing brain and that shines through even being interviewed ... its a cracking division me personally it's close between him and for mentioned fighters like Kell khan Co. ..

Thing is when they're in that mindset of I take the fights that suit me, take them when I know I can win them etc it is easy to become overconfident and believe you can win every fight, then you can win without working so hard, then comes the big mistake. Hamed and Broner showed that. Plus not fighting often and picking and choosing can backfire - it has cost Hopkins some credit for his career and is likely to cost Ward in the long run.

I couldn't disagree more. Thurman is the type of boxer that will get to the top for a very short period of time. He's WAY too vulnerable and someone in the next 4-5 fights is going to knock him out. I've seen him hurt in every fight i've seen and he's not really fought any knockout artists. Collazo? Really? With a body shot, no less. Thurman's been hurt upstairs and down. It's just a matter of time. You need a chin to be a top dog, Thurman doesn't have one.
ERROL SPENCE JR is the guy that will carry the torch at 147 after Floyd marries Rousy and walks on into the sunset.

Spence may be the guy, who knows. He has more to prove at this point than Thurman though. Thurman turning down a chance to fight him for the belt tells us something....

I'd favour brook over him. more technicle, would probably outbox thurman. very good defender who would dodge a lot of thurman punches.
1. brook
2. thurman
3. spence
thats how i see it after floyd and pac leave the division.

the thing is this with thurman. if we would talk about a welterweight division loaded with big punchers like bailey, trinidad or mosley, than i would totaly aggree with you, that thurman is getting ko'd, because he is a lot open in his guard, like you said right.
but who is a power puncher now at welter beside thurman? a bunch of blown up light welterweights like bradley, devon and amir. porter's power is good, but by no means is he a big puncher. there is only maidana, but when he is going to start training again is unclear, also in reascent fotos he looks more of a super middleweight than a welterweight.

That is a really good point. None of the rest of those guys you mention have the pop to put him out but if Thurman stepped up and fought Cotto or Canelo or even Khan, for that matter, i think he might be in trouble. But Thurman seems to be getting better and better each time out to me. Even that mess of a fight with Bundu, you could tell he was trying to be more of a boxer. It's smart because power fades so you need something to back up it up.
Good point man.
