Shumenov

Does the guy own WBA ??? I just discovered that they gave him #1 rating after ONE cruiserweight fight against a bum. Earlier, they allowed him to hold the "Super" LHW title for 18 months without defending it.
Now he is above a bunch of boxers who deserve the #1 spot way more than him:
1. Beibut Shumenov
2. Yunier Dorticos
3. BJ Flores
4. Lateef Kayode
5. Mateusz Masternak
6. Dmitry Kudryashov
7. Youri Kalenga
8. Denton Daley
9. Mirko Larghetti
10. Tony Bellew
11. Rakhim Chakhkiev
12. Anthony McCraken
13. Alex Guerrero
14. Noel Gevor
15. Jordan Shimmell

None of those guys behind him has proven a thing. Other than many are ordinary.

What did he prove ? That he can't beat Campillo ? Some of the others are undefeated and look impressive. I doubt that Shumenov would last more than 3 rounds against Kudryashov and more than 8 against Chakhiev or Kalenga, and those are just ones I know well.

These rankings are terrible...
Use those

My point was that they are terrible. The question is how a person gets a "super" title for nothing, then gets to keep it for 18 months without defending, then moves up, fights a bum and gets #1 ranking ?

My point is they're all terrible. Or completely unproven.
It's not like someone behind him has beaten someone good.
Plenty of things are whine worthy. This really isnt one of them.

Remember a judge gave it a draw v Hopkins !!!!!!!!!!!
Hopkins played with him won every round convincingly and floored him.

Shumenov has conspicuously benefited from very poor judging and questionable sanctioning body decisions even though he's far from a big name, which leads me to suspect that something fishy has been going on to cause this favoritism.....no proof obviously but apparently his family is very wealthy and I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Is there a more rotten organization out there then WBA? I have at least six guys beating him from that least. Easy.

I gave Shumenov 1 out of 24 rounds against Campillo but judges gave him a MD loss and a SD win.
Word is he is paying them by the barrels.

The WBA has the very worst rankings of any sanctioning organization.
It appears that boxers can "buy" a high WBA ranking.

Your subconscious, clutching at the straws of sanity in a World of insane boxing officiating, has led you to downplaying the utter terribleness of that scorecard- the judge you are speaking about actually had Shumenov winning by a point!

Someone has to win this fight. Flores has never beaten anyone worth half a sh*t and lost wide to....Danny Green.
Shumenov is probably a better fighter but having to go up in weight could be problematic. I'd still favor Shumenov here with more combination punching. Both guys are average.

He may buy too much for himself. Lebedev will kill him.

I just realized I must be the problem with boxing. I thought Pascal lost and Shumenov avoided the fight all night long. Judges win I was wrong. my bad

The announcers keep telling me he showed more skill. I saw a lot of runing , my eyes must be wront too. Screw Boxing. Im done with it.

Judges were clearly bought. I am wondering how much they charge. Maybe I should hire a good track coach and "win" a few boxing matches against stiffs like Shumenov just did ?

BJ Flores thinks he's some great fighter so it's always nice to see him lose.

Beibut really doesn't belong in that division. He's running from light heavy because of the killers in the div. Kovalev. Beterbiev. Adonis. Ward soon. Cruiser is a mediocre division but he's clearly too small for it and will have to fight like this where he doesn't engage a ton and does a ton of moving. Of course Flores was gonna press the fight against a naturally smaller guy. Flores just isn't a good enough fighter.

I agree. I wish he could lose as a commentator too bc I can't stand hearing him talk

Huck, Hernandez, Kudryshanko, lebedev, chakhiev, diablo, drozd and usyk would disagree

I had no dog in this fight. BJ is a Tool from every time I have heard his speak. but Shumenov did not deserve to win. Just my opinon

Compared to light heavy that has killers...its mediocre. Some good fighters at cruiser. No great fighters. Kovalev is a great fighter. Ward is a great fighter. They'll both be fighting at light heavy for the next several years and will likely be #1-2 p4p in the sport for a while once Floyd retires. Cruiser doesn't have any p4p fighters.

Cruiser doesn't have a standout fighter like Kovalev or Ward, but it probably has more depth than LHW.

Depth doesn't chase guys out of divisions. Studs do.
And 175 will have plenty of depth between Kovalev, Ward, Adonis, Beterbiev, Yunieski, Pascal, Fonfara. That's not depth?

I never said that LHW didn't have depth, just that I think CW has more--which to me is a longer list of people who I'd give a good shot of beating him. Besides, even though LHW seems to have the best talent at the top I'd strongly favor the major CWs like Huck, Hernandez, Drozd, and Lebedev over Shumenov anyway, so I'm not sure if it matters.
