The most curious thing about this fight so far is that here we are on July 27th and i've yet to read anything about Paulie and Angel Garcia exchanging barbs. I thought that would at least be somewhat entertaining given those two strong personalities.

I have to admit that i'm a bit more intrigued with this fight that i should be. Paulie clearly sees what we all have seen with DSG recently. He struggles with a solid boxer with steady pressure with the jab. Paulie is a jab expert and his boxing IQ would be P4P type stuff so this is what has me interested. I see Paulie just as good or better than Herrera so maybe, just maybe, this could be a huge upset.

OR, the left hook sledgehammer from DSG lands with ease and Paulie finally hangs it up.

Is this the return of the "Paulie is a slick boxer" myth from a few years back, in a new form? He used to have reasonably fast hands, a good chin, a reasonably useful jab & used to be quick on his feet. What he is not--& never, ever, ever has been--is in any way, shape or form, slick. His defence is & always has been average, at best.

A guy with a "P4P level boxing IQ" would not have lost every second of every round versus Hatton & Khan.

Look, I like him, he makes me laugh sometimes & a plucky dude with zero power is hard to root against, but please, what evidence do we have of a P4P boxing IQ?

Curious!
5 stars are correct. The stars are based on Paulie's current rating.

Paulie is inactive and the rank showed is his all-time ranking at welterweight.

The Boxrec page developer knows and will fix it - but priorities first ...

What you talking about mate; he keeps his left hand low so he must be slick

Yeah in all seriousness Paulie's best defence was his feet and ability to get out of range. Now he's slower of foot, he's even easier to hit.

My bad, I forgot about that.

:OhYes:

Totally. If he couldn't skitter away from you, he was always fvcked. Expecting him to be able to skitter now the wheels have gone...

I expect a better fight from this than most I guess. Danny should stop him but he isn't the fastest guy either. I think Paulie lasts 9 or 10 rounds. Paulies boxing IQ is one of the best.

Sammy Vasquez Jr would crush Paulie, Berto, or any of them high profile guys. Give the kid a shot and he'll prove it.
Put it on free TV for us all to see! :DDD

Garcia ain't great but I'm utterly f'n amazed at the amount of morons who think Paulie will win this fight. People like to get carried with stuff like "he fought Salka, he's a cherry picker", or "your only as good as your last fight", or "Garcia looked like crap against Peterson, he didn't win that fight". Guess what. Paulie ain't Lamont. And is not even close to Lamont. Especially at this stage of wear and tear. Dude has one foot in the broadcast booth. Garcia beat Khan and Matthysse for Christ sake and people think he's gonna lose to Paulie's shell? Some dude on YouTube picked Paulie bc "your only as good as your last fight and Peterson really beat Danny". Whereas Paulie got KNOCKED OUT THE RING in his last fight against Porter. IDIOTS!

Please. No shot Paulie wins.

Must be on some other sites, because I haven't seen anyone here pick Paulie to win.

As far as his boxing IQ, to whoever that said that, all you have to do is listen to Paulie's comments on fights to see he knows boxing. If he had the skills and power to match he would really be something, but he doesn't.

I do have a habit of trying to make a great fight out of a bad one, so i probably deserved that. But if we get the Paulie that fought Broner then why can't this be a good fight? Forget the Paulie that fought Porter, that guy will get killed in there with DSG obviously. But a well rested veteran looking for one last fight for glory?

The odds are definitely on your side in this one, i realize that. But there's something wrong with DSG these days. Not sure what it is but maybe Paulie does. You don't get a gig on Showtime analyzing fights without knowing a thing or two so I stand by my stance with Paulie's Boxing IQ. I think that he does a super job ringside interpreting the action in the ring.

Not that it will help him, but Paulie had to answer some questions recently about him hiring Memo Herdia (sp) for some new training techniques, after being so critical of other fighters cheating. He said it is for the training techniques, not peds. :bag:

Its hard to tell how the inactivity will affect Malignaggi,he got blown away by Porter but looked ok against Broner although i had Adrien just nicking it but at Paulie's stage and age,2 fights in as many years cant be great but Garcia isnt looking as good as he once was,i still thought he beat Peterson and Herrera though,he just didnt look as good as i thought he would have

TBH i cant get excited by this fight but i like both guys out the ring, even though i used to hate Malignaggi and i despise Angel Garcia, this fight just reminds me of both guys encounters with Judah,Garcia wins a boring, very foregettable UD

Meh
