Bernard's next target

Now when Froch and Golovkin are unavailable, Bernard is targeting Abraham:
http://www.BS.com/bernard-hopk ... own--93985?
I think it is a smart choice, and Hopkins can still school King Arthur. The question is if Abraham is interested.

Bernard will still put money on the table. It would be a good move for Abraham.
I would favor Hopkins but at his age anything is possible.

If he's sticking around Abraham is a good opponent for him.

A guy with a low work rate fits right into Bernard's hands no matter his age. The way to beat Bernard since the Taylor fights has been to outwork him. Abraham has always been a low output type guy.

Easy win for Hopkins, which he knows of course.

meh.
I don't mind this fight but only if it's above the super middleweight limit.
Would much rather see Hopkins retire but I've felt that way for a long time.
One more fight against a respectable opponent then ride off into the sunset.
Even now Hopkins is still chasing belts.
If Hopkins wins another belt he will keep fighting. He'll want yet another "oldest person to" record.
The only way Hopkins loses belts is in the ring, he does not vacate them and he does whatever is necessary to avoid being stripped.
Who knows..............maybe in Hopkins' world getting stripped or vacating means he did something wrong
Whatever.
Not sure Abraham will be interested in fighting the old man but we'll see.

It's time for Hopkins to sail off - no matter how good he is, at his age, fighting is extremely risky, at any level really. If he wants one more fight, so be it, but I'm worried he is going to just keep fighting on and on - all the signs are that he is.

This is a winnable fight for Hopkins and it would put him in position to meet GGG at a catchweight in the states should they both come thru their fights.

Yes, you could be right there.
I just get a rather sinking feeling about a 50 year old man getting into the ring with top flight fighters 20 years younger - even in winning Hopkins could end up badly hurt.

Abraham is content to fight nobodies 5 times over and to keep the belt warm for the upcoming Germans, why would he want to take on Hopkins. I would favor Hopkins big time but I don't see it happening.

same here. how wrong i was. he is defying
gravity.
i mean it is
a decade ago that he already
passed retirement age. hope he doesn't
get hurt. even with his style, age is age
and he gets hit cleaner than he used to.

He did say that he wants unification fights meaning that his confidence went up after the KO win.

Isn't Abraham preparing for his 8th fight vs Stiglietz?
Good to see Bernard go out with a W, but an AA fight still seems a little below him at this point. It's sure crazy how AA 5 years ago was in people's top 10 lb for lb lists and now he's not even an afterthought.

I like Bernard. He needs to retire.
I will be cheering against him from here on out (which is hard to do) because as long as he's winning he's going to want to challenge himself more and more. It's what made him great and now it could be his down fall.
So if this fight gets made, I'm hoping King Arthur takes the win...for BHops sake.

BHop fought Kovalev. He pursues, wins and defends titles. He challenges himself. If they retired today, his legacy surpasses FMJ's. If BHop pads his legacy it won't be with a Berto.
Boxing is more than business for Him. BHop doesn't just walk the talk, he clears the path.

If groves wins a title from Jack then they could make a nice little in house unification. Other then that I dont see Abraham fighting DeGale, let alone Ward.

Not as awful as Abraham-Stieglitz 26th.

Yeah, all kinds of props to Bernard for giving Kovalev that chance. Big name guys just don't do that for good up-and-comers these days. Without that fight, people'd be talkin' about Sergey the way they talk about GGG: "He looks good, but he still hasn't fought anybody."

You have to admire Hopkins, even in his old age, he's taken on the best fighters out there, quite incredible that he's won so many past 45. The guy is really one of the true greats of the game.
I still remember the number he did on Pavlik all those years ago. Quite amazing.
