They are truly mexican legends,The best out of Mexico.If any one wants to talk about mexican warriors look up any one of these guys.Im sick of these guys on these boards overating Pipino Cuevas,when he isn't the best fighter out of Mexico.I can truly say he would get slaughter by any one of these guys.

At the end of the 20th century, Pipino Cuevas was considered in Mexico as one of their top ten greatest boxers. Boy! Can he hit! He was a devastating puncher.

What about Julio cesar Chavez,Morales,Juan Marquez,Marco Antonio Barrera,Antonio Margarito,or even Salvador Sanchez & Jose Luis Ramirez.You mean to tell me throughout a 20 century that Cuevas is the greatest mexican fighter ever.

I have never said that he was the best ever from Mexico. I have said that in the 20th century, he was one of Mexico's top ten best ever

I've never seen anyone on these boards claim Cuevas is even close to being the greatest Mexican of all time. He's sure as $hit a greater fighter than Margarito though.

Ruben Olivares is my pick for greatest Mexican, but Morales is my favourite.

It's total disrespect to even mention Antonio Margarito even with the worst of these men.

Even with the hand-wraps thing put aside, Margarito's resume doesn't justify being included among the best Mexicans of all time.

dempsey fire Antonio Margarito was a wbo wba & ibf welterweight champion.He also knockout Miguel Cotto once,Margarito was the Wbo champ from 2001to 2007 & fighting great competition.When he beat Kermit Cintron he was a undefeated fighter,he also beat Joshua Clottey,& he wasn't defeated bums either,& only losing to Manny Pacquiao & Sugar Shane Mosley.Every guy he face had a high knockout percentage.

Had he lived, Salvador Sanchez would have been the greatest Mexican fighter of alltime.

Yall talkin like Margarito was a bum & he had titles,serval times!

Say Margarito had been rumbled before the Mosley fight but it was never made public and we never knew about it, so all his best wins were considered legit and his career panned-out in the same way, looking back at his career I'd say:

He a was a huge welterweight with a great chin who threw an assload of punches and was a lot of fun to watch.

He had solid/good wins over Martinez, Cintron, and Clottey, and a really good win over Cotto.

When he fought upper-echelon fighters he was clearly beaten by Paul Williams in a competitive fight, and absolutely eviscerated by Mosley and Pacquiao.

So even without an asterisk against each of his best wins, he still has no business being talked of as one of Mexico's greatest, imho.

I would lean towards Sanchez, but there are several guys that are close; Chavez, Olivares, Barrera, Morales as mentioned. Surprised nobody mentioned Zarate, I would include him in this group.
Marquez, Canto, Lopez, H. Gonzalez, and Baby Arizmendi aren't too far behind.
Might be missing somebody.

After that you have guys Ramirez, Pintor, Juan Zurita, Cuevas, and Palomino.

Great names there Gilberto Roman was a brilliant talent.

I guess u right Margarito wasn't sh#t of a boxer an wasn't skillful at all,he was just brawler,that smother opponents punches an known for fighting wild,but Margarito was able to defend his wbo title several times and beated Clottey & Cotto.Margarito didn't have the talent to ever be a pound for pound fighter but he still was able to accomplish,being a world champ.

We will have to ask Hearns and Duran remember him the blown up lightweight that blew him away when Cuevas was the favourite with the odds makers plenty other Mexican's were far better fighter's than Cuevas some have already been mentioned some not you see that's doing past
Mexican great's a big injustice fighter's like Olivares who won like over 60 fight's before he tasted defeat and what about Chaves Sr and then you have guys like Salvador Sanchez/Ricardo Lopez/Carlos Zarate/Juan Manual Marquez/Morales/Barrera/Zamora/Bazooka Limon/Jose Luis Castillo
Jose Luis Ramirez/Montiel/Villasana/Zaragoza/Pintor/Paez the list go's on and on.......................................................................... Cuevas was a KO artist no doubt but a top ten Mexican Great he is not

My two favorite Mexican boxers were the greats Julio Cesar Chavez and Vicente Saldivar. I was not even born when Saldivar was in his total prime, but, thanks to YouTube, I just got mesmerized by El Zurdo de Oro's style. What a fighter that Saldivar was. A true all-time great in my book.

No. It was right. The Ring published that in the 20th century. Pipino Cuevas, in the 20th century, was one of Mexico's greatest and most beloved popular champions. He was champion at 18. The youngest to win the welterweight crown

In my unbiased opinion, Senor Pipino Cuevas was the greatest Mexican puncher of all-time.

I witnessed a slew of his bouts in person during his 70s heyday, and believe me, that guy could whack like nobody else.

He killed you to the body and could also break your jaw and decapitate you. The beating his put on favored Sacramento son Pete Ranzany was merciless, as was his quick destruction of Clyde Gray and cagey Angel Espada.

He belongs among Mexico's elite fighters. From 1976-1980 this guy was an indestructable, remorseless, punching machine. Carlos Palomino wanted no part of him, and Leonard preferred to face Duran rather than step into the ring with the Mexico City Butcher.

How Psychod1986 thinks that midgets like Barrera and Morales (certainly outstanding fighters, but c'mon!) could take out Cuevas is beyond comprehension. Even Chavez (at his best at 135 and 140) would have been crushed by prime Pipino.

Cuevas vs. Pacquiao would have made for an entertaining go----but only if you hate Pacquiao.
