Khan eyes Pacquiao in Dubai then Brook in 2016

Brook needs to fight a "live" opponent asap and i agree with what Khan says here about building a 2016 showdown into a mega fight at Wembley Stadium.
Khan v Pacquiao could be risky for Khan but it's no secret he regularly got the better of Manny when they sparred - to the point where Roach kept them apart and wouldn't let Manny spar with him.

Some huge matchups on the horizon for Amir Khan

more delusional crap from khan. he doesnt seem to realise that he is becoming irrelevant. pac obliterates algieri, aand khan struggles to a highly suspect win, yet we re meant to believe that pac and roach were cacking it from khan. they will be telling us that hunter kept ward out of the gym when khan was there there because he was afraid ward would get smashed up. oh , and kovalev.....you better start running...even though you havent earned the right, khan will give you a shot....eat up all your pity-paty punches and knock you out.

Khan v Pacquiao would be huge in Dubai and generate huge money so that one works and Roach himself admitted that Khan dropped Manny 3 times during sparring.

'Freddie Roach Confirms: Yes, Amir Khan Did Great In All The Sparring Sessions With Manny Pacquiao, Khan Dropped Pacquiao A Total Of 3 Times, Pacquiao Never Dropped Khan - Only Khan And Pacquiao Can Beat Floyd.

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach has revealed sensational details of the sparring sessions that took place between his star fighter - 8 division world champion Manny Pacquiao - and his former pupil - former unified junior welterweight world champion Amir Khan, at the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood, California, USA.

Roach has trained Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38KOs) for many years, overseeing his sensational world title triumphs in 8 weight classes - a record in boxing. Roach also started training Khan (28-3, 19KOs) in 2009 - when Khan was a Olympic Silver Medallist at the age of just 17, and was just coming off his first loss. Roach masterminded Khan's rise to the top of the junior welterweight division and becoming a 3 time world champion - winning the WBA 'Super', WBA and IBF junior welterweight titles - and overseeing great victories over the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera, Paulie Malignaggi, Zab Judah and Marcos Maidana.

Khan has since left Roach to join up with Virgil Hunter - lifelong trainer of Andre Ward - but British superstar Khan and Filipino superstar Pacquiao struck up a great friendship in the years they spent training together. They spent many days sparring together, and, ahead of Khan's expected May 3 date with pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26KOs), Roach has revealed sensational details of their sparring sessions.

''Manny and Amir sparred many rounds together at the gym. It was great sparring, great to watch. They both have incredible footwork and handspeed. Amir was only young, but he was still in the process of winning world titles and unifying his division, Manny had the upper hand in experience and ring know how.'' Roach recalls.

''They both went all out, in sparring in my gym we never hold back or go easy. We spar hard. Even though Manny fought at 147lbs and Amir was fighting at 140lbs, usually in the gym Amir was weighing 145-150lbs. He was naturally the bigger guy. At that sort of weight, Amir has never been down before. He never got dropped once in sparring when he was with me. He did great against Manny. At first I was wary of letting him spar Manny, but he begged me to let him and I put him in there, and he did great.''

''When Amir was sparring at 145-150lbs, he was strong, big, powerful, but still had all his speed, and his punch resistance was good. It was when he had to go down to 140lbs and weight drain himself that sometimes his punch resistance was lesser. But he still took shots from people like Maidana and Judah!''

''Manny is a legend in boxing and has had an incredible career, but Amir imposed himself more and more as time went on. Some days Manny got the better of Amir, some days Amir got the better of Manny. But Manny never dropped Amir. Amir dropped Manny 3 times in total, in all the spars we had between them in the gym.''

''I always said there is only 2 guys who have the right style and skills to beat Mayweather - and they are Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan. It will be a great fight.'' he said.

Khan v Brook will be massive in the UK no question but if either fighter loses before it's made (especially Khan) then it will devalue it.
This suggests that even though Khan is talking himself up with a Pacquiao fight he may just tread water with 1 or 2 more easy fights against non punchers until a Brook fight is made and cash out massively.

However if a massive payday against Pacquioa is put infront of him for Autumn time surely he'll take it :TU:

I like Roach, but he talks a load of rubbish. The fact that the quote ends " there is only 2 guys who have the right style and skills to beat Mayweather - and they are Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan" tells you everything you need to know.

Khan is pretty close to opening his own Amir Khan Boxing Academy over in Dubai and is very friendly with the Hierarchy over there so that should make any future Pacquiao matchup easier to stage.

Bob Arum has allegedly had "talks" with Team Khan already regarding a Pacquiao matchup

there aren't many promoters in dubai and boxers had problems getting paid by the main one
and the simulcasts failed on the biggest fight they staged there. khan says over and over he
wants to fight in dubai for religious/ethnic reasons, but that doesn't justify a major fight being
staged there for all the people who want to get paid and be involved in a real world class event.
everybody would have to get paid up front for it to be staged there and they wouldn't outbid
what sheldon adelson is willing to pay for a pac fight in macao. not happening

Roach: Pacquiao KO’d Khan at least four times, no point fighting him
20th November 2014

http://www.worldboxingnewsarchive.net/2 ... g-him.html

Yada Yada Yada Who KO'd who in sparring? Believe what you want.

Khan wants Brook to face a couple big names and beat them (so he won't have to face them). He will hope Brook will lose, so he won't have to face him either.

How about Khan face the one good guy Brook has beaten, Porter? Brook can face the one decent guy Khan has beaten - Alexander. Wait, Porter had already exposed him, so forget that. How about Brook face Diaz or Algieri? Or the lightweight Molina? He would be able to prove himself then.

Does anyone think Haymon will let Khan face Pacquiao, when Arum is suing Haymon?

Heck, i'd watch the fight. Why not? Who else does Manny have to fight? Rubber match with Bradley? JMM for the 10th time? I believe that Floyd is really retiring plus no one wants to see those two fight again except me. I think a second fight would be a lot better with the lower expectations.

Does Khan have a publicist or anyone that can explain how much of a dick he's been this year? He yapped his way out of the Floyd fight with all his dumb soundbites. Floyd doesn't like public negotiations so i don't blame him for not giving him a shot. It's been a weekly thing with this guy. Every time i turn around, Khan's saying something dumb about some boxer or bout that will never happen.

I was a fan of Khan until this year and didn't see eye to eye with the majority of the posts anti Khan but i'm all in now. I'd love to see this guy get knocked out again. He's always been a great guy to watch get knocked out or spaghetti legs.

Brook is ahead of khan now and it's khan that needs get a belt it's been over 4 years since khan won a world title fight 4 years that's a long time .khan needs to stop talking about Floyd and Manny as he's not in their league I don't think he's even in the top 5 welters

Khan is pretty dumb, he needs PR people who speak for him, otherwise he tends to look like a tool.

I've nothing against him personally, but he says some incredibly stupid shite.

I really have very few boxers I just can not stand to even look at.
But Khan tops that list.I don't know what it is about him but every time he fights I hope
he gets knocked out in brutal fashion.

I agree. This is more likely for Macao, although the recent economic developments could alter that.

Not sure who I would pick. It would depend on gauging Pac's interest level.

i have a feeling khan acts like he was the mega star, same level as pac or floyd and that he can make demands, like he would like to make the fight in dubai against pac, like he is making the rules and opponents like pac should be happy to face him. he seems to forget that manny made around 150 million in his last fight and is financielly on top of the world.

I have no idea how people think that Khan is some master boxer whose only weakness is his chin.

The Algieri fight showed that he has the same flaws he's always had. Namely, that he has poor defense, is predictable, has no inside game, and doesn't look comfortable on the back foot.
