Fury gets a few hundred k and is contracted to a rematch

Just read an interview with Tyson fury, he says when everyone is paid off, he'll pocket a few hundred grand from the fight, and he admitted he agreed to a rematch clause in the contract. When you are the mandatory you don't have to, and really shouldn't, agree to a rematch clause.
This does not seem to me to be a good deal for fury. Perhaps the UK TV rights will bolster his purse as and when they get sorted out. I hope, if there is a rematch, wlad gets the short end of the wedge.

Why would he get a good deal? He doesn't bring anything to the table and given wlad's standing in the sport, like mayweather, people are prepared to take what's on the table.
If Fury had played hardball negotiating, wlad always had an option to play a trump card of walking away to fight another mandatory or the other champ wilder.
Also, if there is a rematch wlad will probably get even more as I'm sure lewis did

He would have got $3.6m from the purse bid, with no rematch clause, wouldn't have had to go to Germany and the fight could have been here without the Klitschko's messing them about. Instead it seems like he gets less money, has to have a rematch if he wins and they'll fornicate him about at every opportunity. The good deal was there and they appear to have somehow ended up with worse.

He would have had about £3.5mil if Vlad Hrunov had won the purse bid... and it would have been in the UK if he was there on behalf of Fwank Warren!
If Fury is only walking out with a few hundred grand then either he is paying his people a lot more than he's getting himself or Mick Hennessey agreed to a terrible deal with K2 Promotions!

Or wlad could have said he wouldn't agree to those terms and he'd walk away to fight wilder.
I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but business wise for wlad, why would he undersell his own product?

A lot of people on here were assuming that was the case due to the value of the bid and general splits for a mandatory defence. I don't remember seeing any official figures

Maybe the WBA, WBO and IBF would have let Wlad postpone if he was planning on uniting the division... However, why not just let Wlad fight Wilder, beat him, unite the division and then fight him... He couldnt avoid Fury for much longer unless he's willing to vacate him belts...
And even if he did vacate, Fury could just pick up a belt against someone like Glazkov, and still probably make more than a few hundred grand in the process!

He could do that but fury would then get even less if wlad had every belt and was a million miles away the no1 like mayweather.
Fury would again have the choice of taking the offer made to him or being a paper champ as he's just another guy in the queue who hasn't beaten a world class fighter

Then Wlad's left with the IBF title and Fury gets the vacant WBO and WBA belts. Wlad would have got $14.4m himself, his second highest payday after Povetkin, so it wasn't like the terms were bad, he just didn't want to risk going to Russia, especially Grozny.
He wouldn't get the Wilder fight anyway, Wilder was going to fight Arreola and now might end up fighting Andrzej Wawrzyk, which says a lot about his teams plans for him, which certainly don't involve fighting Klitschko in the near future. The contractual situation also makes it difficult, Wlad has another fight left on his deal with HBO, who are very keen on the Fury fight and Wilder is with Haymon, so he'll be fighting on PBC shows from now on, Wlad has to have another fight before he can even think about fighting Wilder and he might need to sign with Haymon to get that fight, which is never going to happen. His other option would have been to go off and fight a different opponent altogether, which would mean losing two belts and seriously pissing HBO off and he can't really afford to do that. Realistically Wlad had no other choice but to fight Fury.
I don't blame Wlad for doing it, but if it's true, I'd like to know who in Tyson's team thought it would be a good idea to take the fight.

No way Wlad give up this belt. He was always going to fight Fury.

It's still a career high paycheck for him. He's had his fingers burnt by haye twice and probably just wanted a secure fight.
Wlad can do what he wants these days and he has more than earned that right through beating everyone out there. The contenders aren't braking his door down either by eliminating each other. They're all happy to wait for their big payday

Doesn't matter if he was or wasn't. Was fury prepared to take that gamble? Clearly not.

Neither of them wanted it to go to purse bids.

So how big of a purse would a boxer need to make in order to keep a few hundred grand after paying taxes and cuts to their team? Also, what is the context for his remarks? Could he perhaps be trying to play up the 'it's not for the money, I'll fight anyone' persona?
People go on about Klitschko 'slave contracts' but Wlad and Vitali's opponents have generally been paid well. Even Jean Mark Mormeck, as a totally undeserving optional challenger who didn't receive nearly the attention that Fury is, made a purse of $600,000.

Yes. Fury was due to get a big purse against haye twice and it fell through meaning he didn't get paid ie he had his fingers burnt

So was Haye in fairness.
