Stevenson and Kovalev have (quite rightly) taken some mild criticism for the level of their most recent challengers.

2 time "world champion" Juegen Braehmer, has surely got to step it up sometime soon.

In his first spell as actual WBO world champ, he faced the mighty Dmitri Sukhotsky, one time Cleverly victim Kuziemski and 16/3/0 Plotinsky. Before not even having the decency to beat up Nathan Cleverly to spare the UK one of it's weakest "champions" in living memory.

Now, during his reign as WBA ordinary titlist (I know, I know, not a real world title) he has fought and beaten some appropriately ordinary fighters including a shot Maccaranelli and one time Cleverly victim Krasniqi, now he's lined up Konni Konrad (LHW rank 129 by boxrec) for, what he lays claim to as, a world title.

Why oh why,wont the WBA just do us a favour and do what they should in so many weight classes and feed their ordinary champion to their super dooper champion and be done with it?

Because WBA is the most corrupt of the four ABC orgs, and he is likely paying somebody well.

Braehmer is largely a bottom-feeder without standout wins, so I think that many people largely ignore him because they don't take him seriously, while at least someone like Stevenson--though on a streak of weak opposition--has proven to be an elite LHW with victories against multiple top ten opponents. Braehmer was also lined up to fight Shumenov and Cleverly, who while unspectacular were respectable opponents, but of course he withdrew from both fights and instead fought inferior opposition.

His upcoming bout is an egregious example of soft match-making for a fighter at his level.

He ducked Cleverly on 3 seperate occasions and was offered the fight again for later in the year but negotiations broke down.

The frustrating thing is with Braehmer is that he can fight,skilled,southpaw,experienced,has power and a good chin and can mix it up at times yet like all German fighters is content to plod away fighting no mark after no mark

He'd be both Kovalev and Stevenson's toughest foe IMO

It is easy to show skills against C level fighters, and all his opponents were arguably of C level.

I forgot about Hopkins and Dawson,i was trying to remember both guys opponents when posting

If im honest i'd take Braehmer to beat Dawson these days
